Chapter 1
Charlotte’s POV
The rainy streets of the old city smelled dirty and sticky, old abandoned machinery and containers were still on both sides of the street, and countless piles of garbage were inside the containers. I hurried out of a weirdly shaped scrap car with a rifle and rushed ahead behind the containers in the rain.
I held my breath, forced myself to ignore the wet, sticky, disgusting feeling, and called down to the man standing behind the container, looking around warily, “Dad.”
The man looked down at me sideways. He was in his early thirties, dressed in a neat black suit, and stood in the rain, but he didn’t look lousy at all.
He is holding a black pistol in his hand; at the moment, it is slightly hooked at the corners of his mouth, looking at me. The smile is very dangerous. I feel as if he will at any time have a psychotic outbreak. Is there any problem with his spirit?
“Miss Charlotte, I don’t want to doubt your intelligence. You are taking a challenge test, and your examiner and opponent are both me. Did you come here to want me to shoot you? “The man placed the muzzle of his gun against my head, a bolt of lightning flashed from the sky at that moment, followed by a huge rumble of thunder and the dirty rain fell even harder.
I stood rigidly in the rain and was drenched like a drowned rat. Worse still, I also had a gun pointed at my head, the most important thing is that the person pointing the gun at you claimed to be my father.
Is he really my father?
In fact, it all began a month ago.
A month ago, my soul just crossed to this 18-year-old girl who looked like myself, and as soon as I opened my eyes, I saw this man in a suit who was cold as a machine, and he was sitting face to face. We stared at each other blankly.
“Are you ......?” I was in confusion and had an intense headache. I endured it and tried to stand up to take in my new surroundings, then asked him again, “Where is this? Why am I here? Am I awake or in my dream?”
Obviously, the man was very clever and quickly understood my condition. He got up, walked towards me and pulled me to a mirror, “This is you, Charlotte, eighteen years old.” He pointed at me with a gun in the mirror, cupped my chin again to move my eyes up and fix them on him and said casually, “This is me, your father, Xavier.”
“...... Father? ...... How old are you?” I voiced my surprise, sort of subconsciously. Next, hearing Xavier reply very calmly, “Thirty-two years old.”
“...... Then you have me at fifteen, didn’t you? ...... Are you sure we had blood relations?” I almost figured out all, and my soul crossed to another girl. I looked at the tall man standing behind me in the mirror, his charming and handsome face does look a little like mine. He may be my father, but he is too young, right?
“I’m pretty sure we’re related, otherwise, I wouldn’t be wasting my time with you here.” He gently loosened the shackles of my hand, turned back to his seat, folded his legs, leaned back gracefully on the back of the chair, and stared at me with contempt, as if disgusted and displeased with my weakness.
“Listen, little guy, you suffered a severe blow to the head before you woke up. I guess you probably lost your memory, now you have to learn about this world again, and your father, that is me.”
I twitched my mouth at Xavier’s words, “...... little guy?”
This time, he ignored my sluggish reaction, just got up, opened the door towards the outside, and said without emotion: “Follow up! If you get killed by someone else again because you are lost, it’s your responsibility, not mine.”
“...... So, I got hurt before because I was lost? And where are we going?” I covered my head to follow up. I don’t even know this place. Do I have a choice but to follow him?
Since he said he was my father, he shouldn’t hurt her, right?
He flicked at me and said in his deep and mellow voice, “To make my greatest weakness disappear from this world.”
Xavier’s POV
Obnoxious brat!
My father is Charlotte’s uncle, and Charlotte’s father and I are cousins. If her father hadn’t entrusted her to me before he died and promised a generous reward, I wouldn’t have bothered with this mess.
Compared to the stubborn and troublesome Charlotte before, this Charlotte who lost her memory is more to my liking.
A blank sheet of paper on which I can draw whatever I want to transform her into a good kid who won’t get in the way, rather than a brat who only makes trouble.
Anyway, she doesn’t even know this place and has no choice but to follow me.
Yes, as a top killer, I have always been haunted by the fact that Charlotte was injured.
From the beginning of my career, I’ve never lost a battle, and Charlotte is the only one of my employers who has been in trouble.
Charlotte’s father paid me a massive money to protect her until she married and had children, so, in a way, Charlotte was also my employer.
I’m not going to tell the truth to the kid, she used to be annoying, but since she woke up after hitting her head, I’m glad her head was hit.
However, although she is now much more obedient than before, she is still my big problem.
Due to my profession, I rarely stay in a fixed place for a long time, and I cannot just leave Charlotte alone and carry out the task alone, which means I have to carry her with me.
Then I decided to train her to avoid letting her drag me down.
After a month of training, she needed to finish the challenge test.
