Summary
Vanessa’s mother is a daughter of the Mexican mafia; when she got pregnant with her, Vanessa’s mother told her father but never told him who he was because he was a man already married and had kids already. Vanessa’s grandfather disowned her daughter. As Vanessa got older, her mother told her the truth about her family, that she is from a mafia family. One day, when she was thirteen, she found her best friend dead. She and her friends made a pact to protect others. When Vanessa told her mother what she would do, her mother supported her and showed her everything she grew up around. She and her friends became family to her, and her family’s parents helped them whenever they needed. Vanessa is seventeen years old, and she and her crew help out others when needed; she also became famous in the underground world as “Red” because she has anger issues, like her mother. Her mother helped her learn how to fight and use guns and knives. Vanessa and her secret that she has a fiancé and is in a three-way relationship. She has a crew that takes care of others who can’t be protected; her crew is her friends who became family for her and her mother. At seventeen, she loses her mother and fiance and regains a family she will build once the danger is over for her and the new family. Some of her past comes to light, and some things come back to tell her why things have happened to her and her friends. Of the danger of someone attacking them suspiciously without reason, her mother’s family comes back as well; they are coming back after not seeing her since she was ten. Things change for them. Can her mother’s family love her as who she has become? As well as her father’s family, would they ever let her protect them, even if it costs her life?
