Joel lies on the pavement in the rain, fighting for breath, blood oozing from a horrific wound in his stomach, his eyes wide in terror.
And focus on, the light, down at the end...
Kelly is by his side, screaming at him to stay awake, begging him to hold on just a little longer.
Say words to comfort me...
Joel’s panicked cries as the paramedics move him away from Kelly to put him in the ambulance despite their reassurances. Kelly sits by him in the ambulance and gently whispers to him on the way to the hospital, the only thing that was keeping Joel calm.
We still have time for hope, that’s all we need…
Joel’s labored breathing, the beeping of hospital machinery, his groggy moan as he struggles to figure out what happened. Kelly’s tears of joy that Joel was alive, her hugging him carefully.
Beneath with me...
Joel sitting up fast in bed, breathing heavily and crying, startling Kelly next to him. He jumps out of bed and runs to the washroom, splashing his face with cold water.

Kelly hugging Joel, him calm and smiling, hugging her back, the moonlight shining on them from the window.
