Prologue
"How did the two of you meet?”
“It’s a long story, starting many years ago.”
" How many?”
“Too many to count, but if you want I’ll begin at our very first encounter.”
“Excuse me, doctor!”
A nurse rushed to my father’s side to assess the situation.
“What’s the emergency?”
“My wife is in labor and is bleeding profusely.”
They wheeled my mother to the nearest room for treatment after 25 taxing hours war with death I came into the world. The doctors were silent, they pressed and tapped, but my breathing wouldn’t come.
“Why can’t I see my baby?”
“Ma’am, please relax.”
“Nooo!”
“Ma’am, please!”
“I need to see my baby!”
The voices drowned in the background as I gazed upon the striking figure before me. I don’t believe anyone knew of or noticed the entity because they also would have been enraptured by their transcendent aura. His gaze bore into my very soul as we locked eyes, his ruby eyes into my doe brown. The grand being winked, my breathing came, and, in the blink of an eye, he vanished. That was my first encounter with him and it wasn’t my last.
