Chapter 1
To be honest highschool is not as good as everyone says it is. It's only fun if you're into drugs, making out with People or if your actually weird and just into learning.
We're all here for one thing and that's to begin to build a future we are most likely not sure of.
We all say we're going have prestigious jobs and become rich and successful and all that but that's the fate of the serious and realistic 16 percent of people the you sit in the same class with.
Though, when you go to a school for the kids of the rich and famous that really doesn't apply to you because you know mummy and daddy are always going to get you the new car and latest gadget. Life is all peaches and cream.
Walking through the halls of Westwood high begins to prove me more and more right.
You know your usual cliches. Girls in short uniform skirts, good-looking guys with untucked shirts and the obnoxious gossip about who is dating who or the latest trends.
I approach my locker and get some books for my first session when a fight starts to break out a few metres away. It's between Riker and this basketball dude. Riker is the kind of guy who'd date your whole friend group and you all wouldn't have a problem with that because he's just that hot. Right now he's currently beating the snot out of the other guy while his football buddies are cheering him on like dogs.
In the the background their leader appears and pulls Riker off the other guy. Lukas Miles....as cliche as it sounds he's the 'it' boy and all the girls are drawn to him.
I walk away and head to my first session. Don't want to be late now do we?
When I reach class I head to my seat shielded in the dark corner and take out my physics book.
The teacher walks in and begins to teach and I pay acute attention. Yeah, I'm one of the weird one's that like learning.
But to be honest physics is an interesting subject. There's so much to learn and understand.
Eventually the period ends and I find myself rushing to my AP English class next when I hear someone call my name.
I turn around to see Carmen hurrying over to me." Hey you, how was your evening ?" She asks as we walk through the hall. "Well I went to the fridge to get a chocolate pudding because I got hungry when I was studying and all of it was gone." I say, taking a moment to remember that lost pudding."- but it could have been worse so I guess it was okay. How was yours?"
"Well it was good. Kevin asked me if I wanted to go out with him and I said yes." She stops talking to get my reaction. I just nod slowly accepting the news. "You don't think I'm making a mistake?"
I take her hand a gentle squeeze it." Your pretty, smart, fun and kind l, any guy would be lucky to have you. Plus Kevin is a nice guy.
When he's football buddies are not around
"Your just saying that because we're friends. "She says squeezing my hand tighter.
"Maybe I am because i love you to bits and I want to support you but go out with him and if you don't like it or he does something wrong, I can hurt him and we can forget about it." I say as we arrive outside my AP English class.
"Your the best friend ever. What would I do without you?"she says pulling me in for a hug I involuntarily wanted. She knows I don't like hugs but she does it because she knows I won't push her away." Probably nothing." I say giving her a friendly pat on the back. "Thank you. "She pulls away before walking off to her next class.
I walk into the class and take a seat. Soon the teacher walks in and begins to teach. I hope the day won't be as bad after all..
Well I spoke to soon... After my last class of the day I head to my locker to grab my work books and study guides.
I begin to notice that the hall is completely empty. That's understandable considering I spent so much time tutoring a junior in chem.
I continue to load and unload books into my locker when I hear footsteps and laughs coming into the hall. It's Lukas and some of his friends. Unfortunately their lockers are in the same hall as mine.
I can feel their eyes on me from the back. Burning holes in my hair. I pretend to not notice a thing. Their loud banter has reduced to hushes whispers. What could they possibly be talking about?
Are they talking about me?
"Juliet!" A sharp pitchy voice calls my name. I see Astrid walking towards me. I ignore her too and go back to what I was doing in the first place. She stops besides me, way too close if i might add.
"Didn't you hear me calling you?"she asks waving her hands in my face to get my attention. "Oh, I heard you, I just choose to ignore you." I say putting in the last book I need for the night.
"Okay whatever. I have an ask and I know that you can do it for me."she says like I care at all about what she says. I nod while slinging my bag over my shoulder ." Aren't you going to ask me what it is?" She asks expectantly. "No, no I won't." I say pulling out my phone. "Okay I'm going to tell you anyways. I want to get back together with Damian." She says twirling her hear with her finger. "Oh, good for you. Good luck." I say slaming my locker shut a little to hard considering the way she steps back." I know you can help me do that that's why I'm telling you this, so help me." She demands.
"Honestly Astrid I can't force a guy to get back together with you. You just need to move on and understand that my brother isn't that into you anymore." I say turning away from her and walking away." I don't need to move on because him and I are made for eachother. But it's not like you'd understand." She says with a little humours laugh. I stop walking and look right at her.
" I don't need to understand because I know that you can't live with the fact that you're not what he wants. So you can go suck on my brother's balls. Oh wait....you can't." I say turning back around and walking away from her. She doesn't follow me or say a word after that.
As I head towards the exit I see the guys looking back and forth between me and Astrid. All of them have a smug smile on their faces except Lukas who's not even paying attention to anyone. Riker winks at me with a huge smirk on his face. I roll my eyes and walk out the main exit...
