Chapter 1: A Chance
On Friday after school, I was putting my books back into my locker as a bright invitation to my best friends birthday pool party fell down from the between of my notebooks.
Oh yeah.. almost forgot about that, I thought. I bended to pick it up. As I straightened I noticed someone leaning against the locker next to mine.
"Zack?!" I asked looking at him confused. "What are you doing here--" Zack Hunter holds up a finger, asking for a moment, and keeps talking loudly on the phone. I rolled my eyes at him being dramatic as he always does.
"Look, babe, we've had a nice run. But I need to move to bigger and better things. How many different ways do I have to put it? We're done." I heard me say to whoever he was talking to. I even felt sorry for the girl she just bumped in front of me.
"Hear that, Davina. Me and my girlfriend are officially over," he smirks. And what does that have to do with me. "I know you have been waiting for a chance like this," he continues to smirk.
"And what chance is that, exactly?" I asked knowing exactly what he meant.
I do admit that I have had a crush on him, but he doesn't know that and even if he did he would never ask me out.
"To go out with me, obviously" he says as if he's stating the obvious.
Okay I take that back. But he's the one who wishes to go out with me, I assumed not feeling convinced.
"You're joking? I mean why in the fudge would I even want to go out with you?"
"Ok first I'm not joking. And second because I'm hot, rich, and charming. And third I'm the king of Carmel High and you are the Queen here, it just makes sense."
Okay he is hot but never close to the point of charming, not even close.
"I don't know what has gotten into your head, Zack. But you are officially crazy," I said walking away and he jogs to keep up. "Look, let me prove that you should go out with me. I'll give you the Royal treatment... we can go to the mall, go bowling, or something."
I can't say no to bowling, even though I may be terrible at it, I still love it.
"You know what, I can even be your date to my sister's birthday party on Saturday. The whole shebang. Admit it you are curious."
"I'm only curious who you swapped brains with this morning," I said half true. I was also curious how my friends would act like when I come to the party with Zack on my side and maybe because how it will be like to go on a date with him.
"You are all about giving second chances, right? Like, that's your thing. All I'm asking for is that chance. Only one date and that's it. What do you say?" he asks, trying not to hide the desperation in his voice but fails.
"I'll say you are out of your head, but it's only one day so what could go wrong. "Why not" I said more to myself than to him.
"I knew you will say yes," he grins. "Don't push your luck, I could still change my mind" I smirked, "hahaha.
