THE BETRAYAL

"Congratulations you have brought a wolf in sheep's clothing into our house" Isaiah remembered his mother bitter words, he wiped away the tears that fell on his cheeks, he really missed his family, and his first love. Isaiah shook his head, this is not the best time to do this, he continued signing the papers his secretary dropped on his table, he was tired but he couldn't bring himself to stop until he was done. Isaiah was the owner of Eazy group of companies, the company was based in shipping containers from Nigeria to other continents and there were few branches around Africa.

Isaiah finished at work, he parked his Phones, his IPad, laptop, the documents he needed, worked out of his office, bid his secretary goodbye, took his private elevator to the ground floor, he walked past his receptionist, opened the huge glass door, only to come face to face with Patricia, the first and only girl he loved. They stared at each other for over a minute before they broke eye contact because of Isaiah’s best friend, Adeolu called his name.

"Izzy come on let's go" Adeolu called out to him ignoring Patricia

Patricia turned to leave in a hurry “I shouldn’t have come here, I will just bring him more pain” she muttered nervously but stopped when Isaiah drew her back

"what are you doing here?" he said

Patricia fidgeted in fear, she still loved Isaiah and hasn't stop trying to get him to forgive her and take her back

"I shouldn't ha.....v...e come" she said in fear, she was downcasted, every word he said pierced through her soul, they taunted her and reminded her of the sins she claimed not to commit

"Yes you shouldn't have, but yet you did and ruined my evening" he shouted in anger

"I...... didn't do it AH" she began to cry

"Oh please I have heard these lies, the crocodile tears is not worth it and never in your life call me that again!!!!" he shouted, he removed his hand to walk away but stopped when she held the tip of his trouser

"I am innocent Isaiah, I truly am, why can't you see that? If I wasn't, how did I get to your house that fast if we were not together? Don't you love me again? You promised never to leave me right? So what changed?” she asked in pain

“You changed, you did!!!! You betrayed me and turned my family against me, I lost totally everything because of you” Isaiah said with tears in his eye. After two years, Isaiah felt like she came back to remind him of his stupidity

“I am sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you, I didn’t mean to betray you, please forgive me” she said crying, he turned to her and said

“If you didn’t betray me, then swear that you didn’t, hold the Holy Bible and swear, then I will believe you” he said knowing fully well that she couldn’t do it, but that was the only way she could prove her innocence to him. Isaiah knew how much she loved God and kept to His words

“I can’t I am sorry, I already did that once in the court and I am not going to do that again” she said

“I thought so” he pulled his trouser from her hand, he walked to meet Adeolu, he wiped his tears. Isaiah dared not look back at her figure lying back on the floor and weeping in agony, he might just fall back into her arms

“Let’s go Deolu” he said, he entered Deolu’s car in pain, he never liked her crying, he always tried to put a smile on her face while they were dating, her tears still brought pain to his heart, Isaiah rubbed his chest

“Why did the witch come back? Does she want to kill you too?” Adeolu asked in anger

“Can we change the topic please?” Izzy said, his heart was still throbbing

“Have you spoken to Izzy Hon?” Esther’s husband asked her

“No, why?” Esther asked

“What do you mean why, he is your brother for Christ’s sake” he said

“And so what? Please babe I don’t want to talk about this” she said pissed

“Babe please, he needs you, he has lost everything already” Juwon said worriedly making Esther roll her eyes in anger

“Babe this guy that you said has lost everything has three cars, four houses and a net worth of over three million dollars” she said sarcastically

“We all know that he got that with all the work and no play he had been doing since you and your family severed all ties with him, and babe you know all these pieces of information of him because you still check on him” he said sadly, he walked to her, hugged her from the back, making her drop the meat she was dicing to cook fried rice for dinner

“Don’t you miss him?” he asked, knowing fully well she does

Esther closed her eyes, remembering her brother’s expression when his mom shouted and screamed at him, he was broken, pained and deeply hurt, she missed him so much, not only him but her family, she missed everyone in the sitting room, chatting and laughing at each other, she missed praying with her family. Esther couldn’t even bring herself to believe God loved her, hot tears streamed down her cheeks. She had always tried to bury the feeling of missing her family but she couldn’t, she missed them terribly, she really wished God didn’t let her younger sister die. Esther broke down crying, she remembered seeing her sister’s body covered in blood

“I do!!!! I do badly, I really do. I miss them” she sobbed, Juwon took her in his arms, he hugged her tightly, he missed the gang together, he hated seeing his wife cry, he hated seeing her in pain without being able to do anything, he so hated her pain that even when she was in the labour room giving birth to their twins, he wept in agony, he couldn't bare the pain etched on her face. Juwon remembered how his twins won’t stop pestering he and his wife on why they never saw their Uncle or grandparents again.
