The beginning of the end
The silence was deafening. Stood there waiting for the flares to go off, for a new order. Someone flew next to her and landed rather quietly for the speed they were going at. Just from that alone she knew who it was, without even having to say a word.
There were more zips that followed as three other people landed on the roof top.
“Petra, you go help the wounded soldier the rest of you take the titan to the left, we will take the two on the right.” He commanded and without even turning to you he was off, expecting the woman to follow which to give him credit for, she did. The two of them flew off towards the two titans. He went for the bald one while its friend was his comrades fated foe.
They were quickly eliminated and the duo flew back to the injured soldier. It was a sad sight to see, a man who promised to give his heart to the corps to save humanity was spending the last beats on the pavement in titan territory. Deciding it would be best not to overwhelm the man in his final moments the female soldier stood back and saluted the dying man in respect. There was a silence that followed and the man and woman known as Petra stood up after putting the mans cloak over his head, once again in respect.
There was a flare shot up in the distance. It was blue, meaning they had to retreat. So the whistles for horses came and the task of reuniting with the rest of the survey corps. So as the horses turned round the corner the soldiers there made their way straight to where the flare went off. Quickly spotting the rest of the soldiers the squad hurried their horses along, so they could get their next set of commands.
“We have been informed that the gate at Trost has been broken through, get on your horses we are retreating immediately!” The commander shouted before all of the soldiers got their horses and they started racing back to the wall.
As the wall started to come into view all that could be seen was smoke surrounding a hoard of titans heading towards the obvious hole in the wall. Gulping at what was in front of them the female was shocked at what was seen, how could the titans break through the wall and how many people were going to be killed.
They were ordered to abandon the horses and to climb up the wall. As they got over the top of the wall the sight was even worse. There was destroyed houses everywhere and the giant humanoid creatures chasing after whoever was unfortunate enough to of had their attention.
In shorter words: it was carnage.
“Everyone but the special operations squad help evacuate the people!” Was what they were ordered to do. The female headed towards the commander along with the rest of her squad as they were the special operations squad. The commander didn’t even turn round to see who they were he just kept staring at this one titan in the middle of the area.
It was as if it had a consciousness and was aiming for purely the titans. She didn’t know if it was a breath of fresh air or a punch of reality in the face. Looking back at the commander waiting for a command or anything form him was useless because the look on his face explained everything. So she turned round to her captain as if to ask what the heck are we doing here, only to receive a look that clearly said he was also not happy with the current command they were under. But the look also said something else, that she mustn’t disobey no matter what.
So she just turned around and sat with her legs dangling over the side of the wall, facing Trost. Watching as people who didn’t need to die fell to the hands of the titans. Most people would be horrified at what she was witnessing but the sad reality is, that this was a regular sight that she had to behold. Granted they were no civilians but it was still one life of humanity gone that wouldn’t be able to fight anymore. She wished a silent farewell to all of the people who lost her lives as she sat on top of the wall as ordered.
They still sat there until they saw the giant titan fall face first, collapsing from exhaustion it seemed. Then there was a gathering of what seemed to be trainees who seemed like they were pulling something out from the titan.
The female saw movement form the corner of her eye, so she turned around and saw the commander now looking at them with a weird glint in his eyes. He signaled for us to stand up and follow him, so we did as we were commanded and followed him along the wall towards where the inner gate was. There we saw commander Pyxis stood next to three cadets. he seemed as if he was asking them questions. However we were told to stand in-between the two gates and were ordered to watch what was happening down in Trost.
It was rather boring until one of the three cadets earlier flew down to the giant boulder in the clearing and turn into a titan. It was a shock, how was this young boy able to be a titan? This shouldn’t have been possible. She turned round to look at the face of her captain who looked equally as shocked and disturbed as she was. There was not a thing that made sense in this situation and as she looked upon her captain the two of them met eyes. The sheer fear of the unknown she saw would haunt her until she found out the answers.
She was certain. Isana would find the answers to their questions. Whether or not it was the last thing she did.
