Chapter 1-So Beautiful
βWhen I saw you the first time, I thought I was dreaming, because you were so beautiful and I could not stop staring at you. I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not daydreaming.β
βI love youβ. I say,
Gosh, she is so beautiful.
βI love you so much.β I say again,
I donβt know how I got so lucky to have her.
βI am so in love with youβ I say another time,
Only one can dream of som-
βAre you just going to stand there like a fucking not job? Get on somewhere!β The crackhead next to me practically screamed at me.
I guess I do look like a freaking nut job just standing in front of a closed restaurant at 5 in the morning.
βDo you like this?β I say to the crackhead pointing towards the restaurant. He gives me a very confused look but still replies.
βA lot of people love this restaurant. I wish I could go there. It seems so comfortable yet elegant.β He says on with a chuckle. And that does it for me.
A huge smile grew on my face and a silent chuckle escaped my lips.
βYou deserve the freaking worldβ. I say to the crackhead while handing him a hundred dollar bill and making my way into my restaurant.
Ladies and gentlemen, Rose Saltzmen, Owner of All The Swirls, One of the most famous restaurants in New York, has just been told by the local crackhead that he wishes he could go to her restaurant. Mama, we have officially made it.
βHey krustyβ I say, patting the restaurant parrot. Her name is crusty because when I bought her the only thing she could say was βGinaβs crusty.β I still donβt know who Gina is, but justice for her.
βRose is here, Rose is hereβ He replies back, his orange and red feathers moving as he does so.
Gosh I love that bird.
I make my way to my office that is in the very back and head to the bathroom that is in there to change into more appropriate clothes.
Yellow.
One thing about me is I will wear yellow. No matter the day or the hour. I will have at least one piece of yellow on my body. And today I chose to wear it all.
I slip the yellow flowery dress that hangs just above my knees out of my bag, and put it on along with matching yellow converse while adding a yellow butterfly necklace across my caramel skin. I tied my curly dark brown hair up into a low ponytail while leaving a few strands out. I debated whether I should put my glasses on, but decided against looking even younger than I already do because of my slight baby face.
I head out of the bathroom and into my office with a slight frown present on my face from looking at all the paperwork on my desk.
Running a restaurant is fun for the aesthetic and yβknow cooking, but while iβm in love with it, I can not stand all the paperwork that comes with it. I hate having to sit in an office. I hate having sit anywhere for longer than 10 minutes. I just can not do it.
My friends say Iβm hyper, but I donβt think so.
Okay, I lied.
I actually donβt have friends. I say itβs because Iβm antisocial but really itβs because I canβt keep anyone around me for longer than an hour. Well except for Pebbles. My pride and joy, my heart, my dog. Sheβs a cute little husky and has been around since highschool. She was there for me during some very dark times.
Gosh, I love her.
Just as Iβm about to attempt to start filling out the paperwork, my bells chimes.
My hands started shaking, my eyes started twitching and my legs take charge on their own and before I knew it Iβm running out my office to the front of the restaurant with a smile so big my cheeks were hurting.
Itβs 6:00 am. Opening time. The best part of my day, every single day.
I stand at the entrance and change the βclosedβ sign to the βopenβ and run to the counter as a swan of people come in.
But theyβre not customers, unfortunately.
Itβs my sugar babies, aka my workers.
Donβt get me wrong, I love them but they donβt particularly like me. And Itβs not something I assumed, during a meeting they flat out told me βwe do not like having you as a bossβ.
There are around 40 workers. Some servers, some chefs, some cleaners, a receptionist, and the restaurant manager, kitchen manager, and bar manager. And then yβknow, Me. The owner, who absolutely no one greets when they walk in.
βHey guys, I baked some cookies and set everything up, all you guys need to do is your job hahaβ I say, with an awkward laugh because theyβre only reaction was staring at me with an unimpressed look.
Ok, tough crowd I guess.
I heard the bell ring, but again it wasnβt the light of my customers. Instead it was a group of around six men. Six very tall and buff men.. They all looked like clones of each other. Each with all black sweats, hoodies and a black earpiece. They all had bald heads with tan skin.
hehe, bald heads.
βHow can I help you guys!β I greet them, to which they all stare before one of them finally speaks.
βI need you to come with us Ms. Saltzmen. β He says, why is he pulling out the last name?
Am I being arrested? Iβve only been arrested once in my life and it was for not moving out of the street to protect the crossing cats.
Gosh, I love cats.
βIβm so sorry for the crime Iβve committed. I meant no harm for what Iβve done. I donβt really know what I did, but Iβm sure I deserve the lock up. Take me away gentlemen. β I say, putting my hands behind my back waiting for the cuffs. I must do what is right. Prison Iβsnβt for the weak. And Iβm most certainly the weak, so Iβve got to keep my guard up.
Note to self: donβt drop the soap. Well, unlessβ¦
The bald men all stare at me with confused faces with slight amusement in their eyes.
βMaβam, you are not going to jail. We just need you to come with us.β One of them says, while holding back a laugh.
I let out a sigh, placing a hand over my heart.
βOh thank God!β I say, relieved.
One of the bald men closest to me shakes his head.
βBut why do I need to come?β I ask
βWe can not say, just comeβ The baldy on my left says, visibly growing irritated.
Well sorry I wonβt jump up and go with you baldy. You could be a killer.
βWhat if I donβt?β I ask, nervously.
βThen we will tear down this whole building until you get the fuck out.β Baldy says,
My mouth drops open, not only because of his rude behavior, but because he has the audacity to threaten my baby. I can deal with rude behavior towards me. But never towards my restaurant, ever.
βFine, I will go. But if anyone touches anything in my restaurant. There will be consequences. β. I reply, pointing a finger at them all.
All the bald men look equally surprised for a second, before baldy literally picks me up and puts me on his shoulder, while the others walk outside. Talk about extra.
βPut me down! Is this really necessary?!β I practically scream. Why is no one helping me? Is this supposed to be normal?
Baldy doesnβt say anything, he just keeps walking towards the large limo that all of the others are headed to.
βUp thou baldest head! Go up thou baldest headβ I yell in my most British accent I could muster up, while pounding my fists against his back and kicking my feet around.
Unsurprisingly, it doesnβt affect him at all and we finally head into the car with him practically throwing my body into it.
βWhere am I going? Who are you? How do you know my last name?!β I continue yelling with loads of questions roaming in my head.
Once again, they all stay quiet gathering into the limo. Two in the front, 4 in the back along with me banging the window like a mad man. The car starts and they drive away from my baby.
What the heck just happened?
After around 30 minutes of me rambling off to the bald men, we finally reached our destination.
Wherever the heck that is.
As Iβm being practically dragged out of the car baldy, I see the most beautiful house I have ever seen in my life. Well, technically itβs a mansion. A very big one to be exact. It has a pretty teal theme on the outside covering everything but the waterfall. , which are covered in white.
After about 7 minutes of walking towards the door, The bald men and I finally reached it, to where all baldy did was touch the little fancy doorbell making the door swing open.
Oh wow, very, very cool.
βDo you have another one of those? I really need one.β I ask baldy, to which he rolls his eyes.
The bald men wait for me to walk inside, and I frightly do so.
βShow some mercy!β I yell, holding my hands up waiting to be attacked. Instead, nothing happens.
I peek my eyes open, slowly lowering hands back down, to see a very big elegant room. It looks more like a living room, but a very rich version. One where you most likely couldnβt eat on the couches because of white the were.
I feel like closing my eyes again as I look fully around to see about 7 rich looking people. 4 women, 2 men, and 1 small child, along with the 6 bald men that are still behind me.
So that makes 14 people. 14 people Iβve completely embarrassed myself in front of. 14 people who are now staring at me, all with a mix of confusion, anger, a tad bit of fright, and lastly, from the child, amusement.
Well, this is just great.
βUh, Hiβ I try to say to lessen my embarrassment. But I completely fail, because they all continue to stare at me like Iβm a chicken with its head cut off.
βIβm Rosie, Rosie Saltzmen.β I say, which seems to do the trick, because everyoneβs faces fill with shock, besides the bald men who are now standing around the room like bodyguards.
Ohhh, thatβs what they are, bodyguards.
βYouβreβ¦Ms Saltzemen?β A lady with dark blonde hair that almost matched her skin tone, very beautiful emerald eyes, a perfect button nose, and amazing jawline replied. The lady looked like she could be almost in her late 20β²s , if not early thirties, but she was very gorgeous in her light blue button up with black slacks lined up with a diamond necklace on her neck.
βIt is Iβ I say with a small bow and slight chuckle. No one laughs, the lady turns back to the others and begins chatting among themselves.
I stand there awkwardly fidgeting with my hands and rocking back and forth, biting my lip.
I could kill for some pizza right now.
βIβm sorry, we just were a little shocked that youβre..Saltzmen. β The lady says, turning her attention back to me, as do the others.
Ok, wow. Just insulted my whole existence.
βNot in a mean way! I think..we just mean we thought you were some know-it-all snobβ³ A different lady reassures me after seeing my silent reaction. This lady has the same hair and skin tone as the other, but instead her eyes were baby blue and she looked to be around my age. She was wearing a very pretty flower, light green dress along with matching green flats.
βOh ok! Iβm not a snob, well I at least I donβt think I am, so you guys donβt have to worry about that. β I say, and the two ladys give a quiet laugh.
Everybody countinues staring at me and the silence went on so long that it became very uncomfortable causing me to start fidgeting with my hands and rocking on on my heels with my lip curled into my teeth.
βWhy am I here?β³I ask, deciding to break the slience, but they all get quiet again, and look at me awkwardly.
The younger lady takes in a harsh breath before finally saying something.
βUm. w-we umβ¦we all would-β She cuts herself off, and begins to look around for help, they all whisper pleadings and she turns back to be scratching her arm.
βAre you ok?β I asked worriedly, maybe she has a stuttering problem. My uncle has the same thing.
Ok, I lied.
I donβt know any of my uncles.
βYes Iβm fineβ She says, still scratching her arm, but with a tight, uncomfortable smile.
βI just..um..we all want to-β
βWe want to buy your restaurant.β The younger lady gets cut off, by a man I didnβt even notice sitting in the far back in a teal armchair.
I donβt know how I didnβt notice this incredible man. He was absolutely beautiful. He had dark brown hair that an average person would mistaken as black hair if they werenβt staring as intensely as I was, his eyes were a swirly mixture of gray and light blue that seemed awfully familiar, they complimented his tan skin perfectly along with his scruffy beard. His jawline was just the right mixture of hotness. He had a very deep scowl plastered on his face while wearing a plain black hoodie, but I can still see a whole lotta muscles. This man is absolutely beautiful
Gosh, he is so beautiful.
βSo beautifulβ the words escaped my mouth before I could hold them back, causing everyone to look at me confusedly for the third time. Including him, but he was still maintaining a scowl on his face.
I continued staring at him like some freaking creep for about 2 minutes before what he said finally registered to me.
βWait what!?β I practically scream.
I think it would have been better for me to get arrested.
