Prologue
At one point in time only animals walked the Earth. They communicated with one another, using our languages, just like humans do today. Earth was pure, and nature flourished. There was never a worry about food or resources, there was plenty to go around. When humans first appeared, they saw the animals as a higher power. The animals were worshipped for a very long time. Humans gave to the animals, and the animals have back. There were no buildings like the ones we have today; humans lived in huts or in hollowed out trees. Everyone was happy, and there were no problems. Everything was peaceful, but eventually things began to change.
One human, whose name was John Valaís, had enough of being a “lowlife” as he had put it. He began to lie to others, trying to get them on his side. He accused the animals of abusing their power and using it for evil. He told his friends that the animals were being selfish, and keeping everything to themselves. Soon, others started believing in his lies. Many humans began to alter their views on the animals. They saw how much the animals gained because of their higher status. Human nature is complicated, and they naturally became greedy and power-hungry.
Humans wanted the power that animals had; they wanted to be the ones who were worshipped. As the humans became more selfish, they began to hunt down the animals. Many animals were caught and slaughtered out of pure hatred. Some humans found out that certain animals were great food sources, and began to focus on capturing and killing these more so than others. As the animals realized how far the humans had gone, and how far they would go just to be in power, they vowed to never speak among a human again.
Over time, many animals forgot about that side of themselves. They spoke less and less amongst one another, until they soon stopped speaking altogether. Because they had forgotten that powerful, wise, and tame side of themselves, they grew to be aggressive, and even began to fight each other. They became the savage, territorial animals we know today.
As they passed through each generation, the hate for humans dissipated slowly. They had not forgotten what humans had done to them, but they could no longer speak in order to educate their young about human nature. Eventually animals began to communicate with one another once again, but it worked only within their own species. The animals humans call wild today, are the ones that still remember what human ancestors have done. The domestic animals, like dogs and cats, no longer remember the past. Therefore, humans are able to keep them as companions, or pets.
There are many cultures that still worship animals today. Many Native tribes worship animals like the bear, the wolf, and many other animals that are considered sacred. These tribes are the only human beings who hadn’t betrayed the animals. They stayed by their sides, helping them, and in return they were blessed. Even today, you can see there are some humans who resent Natives and their ways, and nobody understands why. But, deep down, all of the feelings we have towards people and animals who are different from what we know, all of these feelings lead back to the beginning. Right where everything started to go wrong.
The time when the world changed..
