Summary

In our darkest hour, new gods shall arise. In the decade of the 1930s, no nation is spared the ravages of the worldwide Depression. Confronted by fear and confusion, the world teeters on the brink between hope and despair. As the globe spirals in the dark, the Cthon emerge from the stygian void drawn by the Earth’s faltering glow. Seeking to initiate the Scourge upon humanity, their genocidal invasion is halted in orbit by the last of the Theria. Forced into an unsteady armistice, the two factions agree to a battle by proxy. Chris Donner, a jaded veteran of the Great War, will be granted the divine powers of the Theria and set out towards California altering the lives of Depression era America as he searches out answers and struggles to find meaning in a world without hope. Li Chen, an idealistic teenage peasant from Manchukuo, will be chosen by the Cthon; his body twisted until it resembles that of a serpentine titan. Hailed as the fabled Dragon King destined to remove the yoke of Japanese oppression from China, Li Chen attempts to lead his people to freedom and a new golden age. Both will irrevocably change history’s course until they are finally drawn together in a final battle that will decide the fate of Earth.

Prae Fatia

At the edge of Creation, far removed from mortal and Maker’s touch, the Oort cloud shimmered like a fragile wintry gasp. Within that primordial glow of rich immateriality, the veil between order and oblivion silently flared and flickered. Pure crystalline bodies spiraled through the ethereal expanse joined by Centaurs rushing recklessly at full gallop chased by capricious comets flaring amorously across the ecliptic challenging the stygian gloom. It was dreamlike and brilliant, almost angelic in its beauty, this challenge to the void by Creation’s most independent children. But even the cosmic was finite and beyond this last brave gasp of Life lurked the lapping inexorable black sea of the abyss.

Drawn by their radiance, a scarred legion of carbon and iron rose from the deep in approach to those fading shores. Their pitted, stony faces soon pierced the celestial shroud entering the divine firmament on their empyreal march toward that infinitesimal point of light at Creation’s core.
