When he left
I stand on the dock looking out over the water. I come here a lot. Since my dad left it's the only place I seem to go. The water is beautiful this time of year. It's about the middle of fall when it starts to get really cold. The big pine tree cast a shadow over the water. Making it look a darker blue than it is. Dad used to bring me down here all the time. At least till the day he left.
It was July fourth. My mom's birthday and our family's favorite holiday. My parents had been fighting for a while before then but then my dad exploded.

I stand at the water eating my hamburger. My Dad just made. He used his secrets recipe. It's the fourth of July and were having our annual barbeque. "Emma" I hear my name and turn around my best friend Zora is walking down the hill. "What" I say turning. "There at it again" she says. We run up the hill. She's talking about my parents. They have been fighting a lot lately. I'm used to it by now.
As I get up the hill, I see them. There screaming at each other. My mom is standing on the right side of the grill crying while my dad is screaming. Then my mom starts screaming and crying. Then I hear it as plain as day. My dad says " I want a divorce were over"
My mom stare blankly at him and then all I hear is a small blank whisper "fine"
