Chapter 1
I looked out into the clouds and I was sitting on top of my truck, I got off of it, put my keys in to start the engine and drove, I felt the muscle of my truck, the wheel hitting the dirt and small rocks, which was a good reminder of my career and/or passion. I drove all the way to my job …… being an aviation pilot.
WAY OF THE AIR
I parked my truck in the the co-workers section, I saw my partner already in his gear, my partner Wallace Rimmel.
“Hey Rimmel!” I said shouting his name with joy. But something was up. His suit looked like what you would see in the movies, but a little more brighter, with purple visor for our silver helmets Wallace is younger then me and I asked him.
“Victor…” Wallace said.
“What’s wrong? What is it??” I said with confusion.
“The Commander wants to see you…” My partner said while pointing his head down and walking away getting his jet ready. I walked a little more quicker to see the commander in his office.
“Sir?” I said knocking on his door. Commander Christopher Harris open the door slowly.
“Morning Cutter, come on in.” The commander said going to his seat and sitting down while I was to my seat and sitting slowly. “Is everything alright sir?” I said. “Victor, you have been a great fighter pilot but ….” The commander said giving me my news. “I giving a retirement.” He said moving the papers in front of me and placing them in my hands.
I paused with disbelief and denial. “Sir…. Is there any reason to this?” I said. “Victor …. You are always great up there in the skies …. But you just turned 50, let your partner Wallace take over, he has experience.” The Commander said. “Sir, please… let this be my final mission … whenever that is … let this be the end for me and let me go out with a bang! Please sir! I don’t want my last time here to be just looking at papers to sign.” I said with serious optimistic determination.
The commander looked and me with his hand of his face, standing up and looking out his window swing my follow other pilots ready for take off. He looked back at me. “One Last Fly.” The commander said with my smile ear to ear on my face. “But remember Vic, this is it, if you get injured out there or worse you turn back here, understand?” I stood up. “….. Yes Sir!” I said with pride. “Victor …. Your dismissed.”
I put walked out with happiness, determination, confidence and wonder know that I would look to the skies and be apart of it once more.
