Liar

Luke's restless steps echoed through the living room, his mind swirling and palms damp. In the bathroom, Jackie held the key to their future – a pregnancy test. Halting his pacing, Luke whispered a fervent prayer, "Dear Lord, please let this test be negative. I can't handle two babies at once."

As the bathroom door creaked open, Jackie emerged, holding the test. Slender and model-like with a beautiful face framed by long hair, Jackie embodied grace. A former track star and honor student, she and Luke had navigated eight years of highs and lows since their middle school puppy love days. Today, Jackie remained oblivious to Luke's secret life – a second relationship and another impending baby.

Luke, juggling two relationships for three years, led a double life with Mykala and Jackie. His freelancing job provided the perfect cover for constant travel, allowing him to maintain both relationships. Now, as Jackie sat on the couch with an eager smile, tapping her foot, she placed the test on the coffee table. Luke, offering a reassuring nod, checked the time on his phone. A notification flashed – an image from Mykala. Opening it, Luke faced a sonogram with a message:

"I'm sorry you missed the doctor's appointment, but here is a picture of our little one."

-Mykala

Luke, conflicted, texted back:

❤️

"Luke, come sit with me; I'm so excited. What do you think we'll have, a boy or a girl?" Jackie's anticipation filled the room.

"Not sure, sweetheart. What do you want?" Luke, now sweating, replied nervously.

RING.RING.RING.

Luke's phone interrupted the moment – Mykala calling. He sent it to voicemail, triggering a notification with a voicemail shortly after.

"Who was that?" Jackie inquired with a different tone.

"Not sure, but I didn't want to spoil the moment," Luke evaded.

"We have two minutes left on the test, and then I'll check it," Jackie informed.

Silence hung in the air. Jackie envisioned motherhood while Luke feared the impending crash of lies if she was pregnant.

'Why did I date both of them simultaneously for so long? This was bound to happen. I'm so stupid. Do I really love them both, or is this chaos a sign that I don't?' Luke's inner monologue raced.

"Positive!" Jackie exclaimed, "I'm pregnant," snapping Luke back to reality.

"Wonderful, congratulations?" Luke's condescending tone went unnoticed as Jackie excitedly called her mother, unaware of the storm brewing within Luke.

SHIT.

SHIT.

SHIT!

'Eventually, I'll have to come clean, but I need to think this through. Two babies with two different women – my mom is going to kill me.' Luke pondered as he dialed a number. While waiting for the call to connect, he approached Jackie, kissed her forehead, and signaled he'd be back. She nodded in acknowledgment.

"What's up, bro?" Eric, Luke's brother, greeted.

"Chillin'. I need to talk to you now," Luke replied.

"Okay, cool. Come to the crib; I'll be here," Eric said.

After ending the call with Eric, Luke hopped into his car and drove off, deciding to check his voicemail along the way.

"Hi, my love. I sent you a picture of our sweet baby. The doctor's appointment went well. I can't wait to see you tomorrow. Call me. Love you."

-Mykala

Luke activated his car's assistive device on the steering wheel, instructing it to "Call Mykala." The phone began to ring.

"Hi, baby! I miss you; what are you doing? Tried to call you; did you get the picture?" Mykala eagerly spoke.

"Hi, baby girl. Yes, I got the beautiful picture; how are you doing?" Luke replied.

"I'm good, tired. I'm trying to put away the laundry. Are you still coming tomorrow? I made dinner reservations at the Commissary, and Julie and Jayden are having dinner with us," Mykala shared.

Luke sat in silence, lost in his thoughts about his complicated situation.

"Lukie-pooh, are you okay? You're acting weird," Mykala noticed, concerned by Luke's uncharacteristic silence. He remained lost in his thoughts, unable to engage with her.

Flashback-Luke's POV

"Come here, girl," I said, grabbing Mykala's hand and leading her to the apartment balcony.

Having recently landed a fantastic freelance project manager job in DC, I'd moved here just a week ago. My encounter with Mykala on the plane from Atlanta had been a whirlwind, and since then, we'd been inseparable. The only hitch was that I was already in a relationship with my high school sweetheart, Jackie – a bond of six years since seventh grade.

"Check out this view. It's nice," I mentioned, pulling Mykala onto the balcony. My new apartment at L at City Vista, an upscale city residence, became my home the day I arrived in DC.

Mykala giggled, joining me outside. "This is a nice spot," she replied. We shared a seductive kiss, exploring each other sensually. "Show me the bedroom," Mykala whispered in my ear.

I scooped her up into my muscular just left the gym arms and carried her to my bedroom. I sat Mykala on the bed, pulled her t-shirt over her head, and revealed her oversized top. I took them into my hands and then into my mouth. She stretched over the bed, and I yanked her pants down to her ankles and off.

Naked.

I place my face near her dripping core and lick her sweet juices. Mykala is thicker than Jackie, with large hips, thighs, and ass. She moans with satisfaction. And I know she loves my advances. Mykala grabs my head and pushes it closer to her lips. My motion increases and I lift her legs above her head; I back off and enter her with my meaty flesh. Mykala moans in pleasure.

We fill each other's needs; rubbing, kissing, licking, and sucking the parts of our selection. After our lustful expedition, Mykala finished on top of me, panting to catch her breath. I wrap my arms around her and cuddle. While she lays on top of me, falling asleep.

"I know I was wrong, and I didn't have any reason to lie to them. Being with Jackie for so long, I discovered different aspects I liked in both of them. In my mind, Mykala was a good time, someone to chill with while I was in DC." I never thought not being transparent would come and bite me in the ass.

"Jackie is my everything, and I planned to marry her, but Mykala was my release, my good time, my love. Mykala and I were never supposed to last this long. And, then. One week and two dates turned into three years and a baby."

Present/Omniscient

"Oh yeah, I'm still here, Baby Girl. I'm okay; just listening to you. I'm excited too, and I will be there tomorrow to have dinner with you. I gotta go, Baby Girl. I am about to meet with Eric," Luke said.

"Okay, My Love, I will speak to you later," Mykala replied.

As Luke pulled up to Eric's house, ending the call with Mykala, he got out of the car and walked up to Eric's door, knocking.

"It's open," Eric shouted. Luke walked in and made a beeline for the bar.

"Woo, are you okay, bro? I rarely see you drink," Eric asked.

"Man, I am having the worst day ever. Hold on, let me take this shoot." Luke shoots back a shot of Patron, "Okay. Jackie and Mykala are pregnant. I just found out, before I got here, Jackie is pregnant, and Mykala is in her twelfth week. Shit man. What am I going to do?"

"Man, shit. I told you that shit was gonna catch up with you. I don't know what you're gonna do; come clean with your lying ass." Eric said as Luke sat on the couch.

"I think you're right, but how? I'm going to lose them both," said Luke.

"Bro, do you really care? No disrespect, but if you did. You would not be in this situation," Eric stopped to light his joint, "Furthermore. If it were me. I would sit them both down together. And let them know what it is," Eric takes a drag. "Because at this point, you are family." Eric chuckled and passed the joint.

Luke spent hours talking with Eric, then took the scenic route home, contemplating the impending challenge of two expected babies. Eric arrived home and entered the apartment.

"Who is Mykala?" Jackie questioned, catching Luke off guard.

"Huh, who?" Luke stuttered.

"My-Kala," Jackie clarified.

'How does she know about Mykala?' Luke thought to himself.

"Mykala is a friend of mine," Luke stammered.

"Well, your friend is on social media. She posted pictures of you and her, and her pregnant belly with the caption 'Me and Baby Daddy expecting a bundle of joy.' So, who the hell is Mykala?" Jackie demanded.

Silence filled the room.

Deep breath.

Sweat.

"Luke!" Shouted Jackie, "WHO IS SHE?"

"She is having my baby," Luke whispered, "I've been with her for a while."

"When? How? You're a liar; you're nothing but a good-for-nothing liar. How could you do this to me? How could you do this to us? You're such a liar. GET OUT!" Jackie stormed off, slamming the bedroom door.

'Shit. I guess I don't have to tell Jackie.'

Ring.Ring.Ring.

Mykala was calling, but Luke ignored it, wanting to talk to her in the car. He approached the bedroom and knocked.

"Jackie, can we talk, please? I love you," Luke pleaded.

"Luke, please go away. We've been together too long for you to be lying to me. We're expecting a baby, but come to find out, you were already expecting a baby. I'm supposed to be your wife and mother to your children." Jackie cried, "Please leave!"

Luke turned and walked away, tears in his eyes. His heart broke for Jackie. He went to the car, lit a cigarette, leaned on the hood, and called Mykala back. She picked up on the first ring.

"Luke! Where are you?" Mykala asked intensely.

"In Georgia," Luke replied.

"And who are you with? Because some woman named Jackie posted almost forty pictures of you and her from grade school until today on my baby announcement page!" Mykala shouted.

"Liar!" she continued, "You're a liar and a scumbag. I asked you if you were with someone when we started dating. You lied. You lied. YOU LIED!"

CLICK! Mykala hung up on Luke.

He took a drag of his cigarette, put it out, got into the car, and drove to Eric's apartment.

'I guess I am a liar.'
