Chapter 1

They say its very difficult to imagine light when you are stuck in the middle of a tunnel. Most times we are fixated on our current state of being that we don’t see what could be there at the end of the race. It is hope that keeps us going and without that hope we tend to drown in frustration and sabotage potential future opportunities which are built on endurance. Starting from a humble background I always used to envy what the privileged had. The top designer fancy clothes, the cars, the houses, the lifestyle, I JUST WANTED IT ALL. To me that was what success looked like. As a kid I always saw an endless pith of opportunities and as I grew older those opportunities started narrowing down as reality struck. I knew at some point, I needed to find purpose in my life and my background became the source of inspiration. Raised by a single mum on a low income, my mother had to scrap off surfaces to ensure we were all taken care of. Fees had to be paid, bills had to be paid and at most times it was just chasing the tail. I witnessed the pain of seeing a mother closing herself behind closed doors to cry and coming out with a huge smile on her face. It was from those experiences that I leant that it’s okay to fall but what’s more important is picking yourself up and keep going. In our family we were always happy, we had our own times of misunderstandings as humans, but we always knew that the greatest gift we had was love and that love conquered everything for us. We celebrated every little milestone and that always kept us going. The appreciation of the little things made me share every little thing I had with what I called ‘’MY SUPPORT SYSTEM’’. I started to break away from the bias that I needed to have all the luxury in the world to make it happen. If I could afford a shop cake instead of a tailor made one on a family member’s birthday, I made sure I bought it.
