The Cancerian Queen

My body couldn't help but shutter at the sound of the big black iron gates of the Cancerian Kingdom opened up, to welcome me to my happily ever after or my doom.

A million thoughts race through my mind as we inched closer to the dark, gothic, eerie looking castle. 'Would the life I'm riding to be better than my almost perfect life at the piscian kingdom?' 'Did the man I chose to get engage to the right choice?' Did Arios's kiss really mean what he said it was, or was it a moment of vulnerable weakness?'

I quickly gather myself back together as the gigantic, gothic castle came closer to view. It was nothing like home, quite the opposite. It was dark, rainy, and cold. Was this really the place I'd want to call home for the rest of my life?

Chapter 1

The warmth of the sunshine on my face, the sounds of waves crashing on the rock-side of the castle, and the beautiful serenaded songs of birds outside my window. Relishing the moment knowing it would be my last day at home, in my bed. Just as the lovely moment begin, it ended abruptly with a sudden knock.

Lady Gertrude, my main hand maiden, old nursing maid, second mother, and best friend came bussing in with a cart with my morning tea with a bright smile on her face. " beautiful day your grace" she cheerfully exclaimed. No sooner than the words left her mouth my mother waltz in behind her spring in her step and glowing with excitement. Giving me a worrisome look she says "still in bed? Nerves, sleepiness, or excitement?" With a smugged amused expression crossing her face suddenly.

"Just taking in my last day here that's all. I'll miss these beautiful mornings the most" I replied. As soon as the word came I was filled with a nauseous doubtful feeling. Spacing out lost in though I couldn't help but think 'is this happening to soon? Maybe I'm not as ready and prepared as I thought I would be!' Noticing my perplexed look Gertrude placed a calming hand my shoulder and handing me a cup of tea with the other. Accepting the cup with thanks I slowly sipped the berry and honey infused tea feeling instantly relaxed.

Opening the wardrobe my mother look at it expectantly " my darling have you decided what you would wear to meet your future husband?" Saying the last words with more enthusiasm. Gulping down the rest of my tea I replied "yes, I was thinking of wearing something that represents the sun piscian court and moon Cancerian court combined, infusing our house colors, but also learning the crown princes favor colors ill be add that touch as well"

She turned to look at me with a slight pain in her face as she just stared at me for a long pausing moment. Breaking the silence I asked " mother what's the matter?" Pursing her lip together she replied "just can't believe my beautiful jewl is all grown up and already chosen her future husband as I once did many years ago. It's all happening so fast". Walking over to her I embrace her with all I was hugging her as of it was my last, whispering in her ear " I will always love y'all and come visit when able".

Stepping back and wiping a tear from her eyes and replacing her worried face with a smile she turned to Gertrude and said " please prepare her bath and have her ready in 3 hours time please". "Yes your Majesty" Gertrude responded with a bow before exiting the room. Walking over to my golden vanity I picked up my brush and started brushing through my bluish-purple curled hair and admiring my piscian features, how my curls fall down the side of my face and down my back gracefully, my light freckles painted across my cheeks and bridge of my nose, and the glowing emblem every born noble is born with that represents their ancient, magical, royal bloodline.

The Pisces symbol glowed a bright turquoise blue on her forhead barely covered by her bangs. She always admired it but often wonder what her magical gift would be, when she would receive it, as most royal receive their gift before 15, and she is soon to be 18.

Realizing she was lost in thought again she reeled herself in and turned around to face her mother sitting in a chair enjoying her own cup of tea. "Mother?" She asked in a questioning tone. Before her mother could respond she was already asking "although I sent spies to investigate the 11 zodiac princes, do you think I chose the right one?".

Turning to give Aleria her full attention she replied "the piscian and Cancerian has always lived in peace and on common ground and share our waters, and based on your investigation he seems to be by far the nicest and is easy on the eye no? This marriage might be what's best to continue this prosperity in my opinion " pausing to take a sip of her tea she begin speaking again " and although you will become their queen and bare their emblem as well when your initiated, you can always come back home if ever scared or mistreated". Noticing my content silence she got up kissed my forehead and walked out leaving me to my thoughts as I waited for Gertrude to return.

~ I am in no means a writer or good with grammar, this is the first book I've ever written loosely based off of a dream I had so don't go too hard on me and thanks in advance for reading I will try to update a couple chapters everyday. But for now I'm going to see how this first chapter turns out if I want to add more or not. I take well to criticism so please comment and let me know what I should change or do to be better ~ DAISY
