Chapter 1
This story starts with a meeting in the woods. Kaede was completely and utterly done with the underworld. She had long blond hair that went down past her shoulders, and pink eyes. Kaede was not an ordinary girl, but a godling. an underworld goddess to be exact, though you never would have known it looking at her. She was the goddess of detirmination, not that she cared about her title, and being immortal, was the equivilant of a 17 yr old human girl. Kaede was overjoyed to be in the human world, though she did wish she could of brought her piano. Not detered, she began to sing, her soft voice whistling through the forest. Soon, she head a boy's voice began to sing along and moved through the trees to find him. When she did, she found a very pale boy with black hair, yellow eyes, and a timid expression under his black baseball cap. Kaede's first thought was that the boy would fit in in the underworld, though she wasn't going to say that to him. Since the anxious boy definitely wasn't going to speak first, Kaede said, "Hi, do you live around here?" The boy shook his head and said, "I just got here, I have very over protective parents, and I needed a little time to breathe." Kaede wished her parents were protective of her, but they didn't seem to care what she did. When she said that, the boy turned red and appologized. Kaede comforted him, and told him he didn't need to appologize. Kaede and the boy began talking and telling stories, and Kaede found herself growing closer to this boy as she listened to him tell her about his insecurities. When he was finished, she put a hand on his shoulder in comfort. "Well I think your a pretty cool guy, you just need to be more assertive." She smiled as he looked at her, obviously a bit unsure, and I don't think you need that hat anymore. They spent some more time talking before Kaede realized her time on earth was almost up. "I have to go," she told him and he nodded, waving her goodbye and she walked off to a safe place to form the portal home. Kaede realized suddenly that she hadn't told him her name or asked for his, but it didn't really matter, as he was mortal. It still made her sad though, because something about him intriugued her.
Shuichi waved the girl he had met good bye and then started back to Hopes Peak. You see, Shuichi was a godling, not only that, but the son of the king and queen of the gods themselves. Makoto: god of hope and Kyoko: goddess of knowledge. Shuichi was the godly equivilent of 15 years old, and was the god of detectives and investigating, though he thought of himself as a fraud because of a case he solved, as he isn't sure it was a good thing he solved that case. His talk with that girl had helped though, and after turning his hat in his hands several times, went through the portal to Hopes Peak. Shuichi came back to find two worried and angry parents, and he knew he had some explaining to do. "Where have you been?! Kyoko asked, and Shuichi wondered if answering would get him in more trouble. Eventually he answered, "Earth," and he knew he was in for another lecture. Shuichi waited till his mom had calmed down, and then went to his room. Shuichi sighed, he knew his parents were just worried about him, but he could take care of himself. His brother is the one who kickstarted space exploration 200 years before it should of happened. Shuichi loved his brother, even though he was very loud and always seemed to have his head in the clouds. Kaito was the god of astronaughts, and Shuichi cared about him a lot. Though he still teased him about his feelings for the head of the guards, Maki, goddess of assasins. Shuichi kind of just sat in his room until his dad came in and said, "I understand your upset, but your mother is just worried for you, however, she listened when I said you could go down to earth for a few hours as long as Kaito goes with you. Shuichi nodded and got himself ready. He could here mom grumbling and figured she was talking about the spy. Apparently, Himiko had divined that there was a spy on Hopes Peak from the underworld council. After observations, Shuichi had it narrowed down to 3 of the younger godlings, but decidd not to tell Kaito, as he didn't want his brother hurt. Kaito came out of his room with a big smile on his face and the two boys went down to earth, Shuichi having a feeling Maki had something to do with his brothers smile. That reminded him of the girl he had met, but that made him a little sad, as she was mortal and he wasn't. Shuichi kept his hat with him but decided not to put him on, still thinking about the girl who had inspired him to be braver.
"Do we have to do this?" Kokichi turned to look at the one who had spoken. Maki stared at him, annoyance on her face. "Of course!" He responded, and worked his magic to create an enticing mystery, the magic of lies. Kokichi was the god of lies and trickery and the equivilant of a 16 year old. He was also the favorite child of Queen Junko, queen of the underworld and goddess of dispair, or as Kokichi called her, mom. The reason why Kokichi and Maki were on earth was because his older sister couldn't stop gushing about this guy she met and was really sad because he was apparently mortal. When Kokichi heard the discription though, he knew it had to be the youngest son of the king of the gods. After getting word from their spy on Hopes Peak that the young detective was going to earth, Kokichi prepared himself and Maki, much to the Assasin's chagrin. "Let me get this straight," she started, you want us to kidnap the son of the two most powerful gods because your sister has a crush?!" "Pretty much," Kokichi said smugly. With the power of Kokichi's lies, soon a complicated mystery was in the works. With the trap set, all they had to do was wait, Maki scowling at Kokichi all the while, but Kokichi didn't care, excited his plan was working. They watched the site of the crime for several hours before two boys came on the scene. One of them they reconized as their target, Shuichi, and the other... The two underworld gods gaped at the crown prince of Hopes Peak. Maki glared at Kokichi, though admitted to herself it was partly her fault too. It was bad enough they were planning to kidnap Shuichi, but now Kaito was involved too! "Forget this let's go," Maki said but was stopped by Kokichi. "I know you have an eye on him" Which made Maki blush against her will and glare at him. Kokichi attempted to soothe her worries, though it didn't really work. Now they waited for the right moment and allowed Shuichi to solve the case in about 10 minutes, confusing the adult police who didn't know how to do their jobs, and then Maki sadly shot Kaito with a tranquilizer dart. Shuichi turned, but before he could make a move Maki tranquilized Shuichi and slung him over her shoulder. Kokichi and Maki turned to leave, but then saw Kaito getting up and running towards him, the tranc on him being very weak. Kokichi then opened the portal to the underworld and he and Maki jumped through, an unconcious Shuichi in tow. The two looked at each other with relief, then looked behind them and saw Kaito standing there, a betrayed look on his face. This was not going to be a fun conversation.
