"We need an update on how our troops are going, sir! If we dont have enough soldiers we'll lose this godamn war."

"I know that, sir, but their injuries are irredeemable. I know your troop is everything to you, General, bu--"

"I DONT CARE!" He slammed his fist onto the tool tray, sending a scalpel into the doctor's eye. He didnt care enough to apologize. Instead, he turned on his heel and strode by. "I NEED A DRAFTING SERVICE! SOMETHING TO GET SOME SOLDIERS!"

Nurses rushed to treat the doctors eye. His pain was echoing against the other crying out in the hospital.

After a few days, a robotics expert came to the hospital and inspected people's conditions, and he came back with a set of tools and assistants. They worked on the first patient. They withdrew after a few hours. Nurses went to check on the patient, and they found he had robotic limbs as replacements, and at his temple was a strange little LED, shining slowly.

Patient after patient, the engineers and surgeons worked together to put the fallen soldiers back in place. The General was astounded and demanded they were sent to the front lines, but they were still unconcious. They were not in a proper condition. They needed their memories and their life back before they could live it again.

6 years had passed with the patients still frozen in this coma. They were about to lose, hiding their people away from their enemies.

Yet...

Some anonymous person emailed the head member of the industry, claiming to have found the flaw and the fix in the classified revival system. Spending their very last coin of hope, they replied and said they could come on over. When the mysterious character arrived, they were around thirteen. Everyone lost hope.

But she proved them all wrong. After a few hours at one of the computers in the workplace, she hooked all of the Fallen, as they were called, to a large PC.

Firing it up, the Fallen started to rise.

After a whole 6 years, the dead had risen fron their graves (or hospital beds), surprised and examining their metal body parts. Nurses were happy and excited, finally seeing their patient's eyes open.

When the General came to meet back up with them, they failed to recognize him, aswell as all of their family members and friends. Full of rage, the General stormed over to the thirteen year old at the PC, eating ramen noodles out of a orange plastic bowl.

"WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THEM!?" He roared, and stared at her. "THEY DONT REMEMBER ANYTHING!?"

She shrugged cooly behind her sunglasses, and said, "What more than you want? I've "Risen" your "Fallen". Stop whining like a baby and move on."

Flustered by her backtalk, he tried to formulate a response. She waved him off, and with her mouth full she said, "Go away."

After a few months, using the advanced strength of Risen, the war was won. The now peaceful lands were governed by the Gavel, with slightly strict and slightly looser laws. The people were happy about the outcome.

People chose to have their body parts replaced with those of metal, and it became common to see people with metal arms or legs.

Eventually, a new feature was added. Placing a strange LED in your temple connected you to the "Interface"; the product of the same 13 year old who revived the dead. It was a powerful connection to the entire world, whilst keeping you healthy and fed. It was safe to spend your time on.

The event of the explosion of the Interface was known as the Upload, because millions uploaded themselves to the Interface. The installation was free; and it would help people earn money. People loved it. They trusted it.

A few years later, however, the Interface seemed more... rigged. The government was earning a lot of money and people were going broke. Angry, the people tried to go against the Gavel, but they were put down by the Interface. It was obvious the Gavel had hacked into the Interface's program and code, and edited things for their own benefit.

A rebellion was made, led by the thirteen year old who revealed themselves as Wren Intrie. Leading many cases against the Gavel, there were plenty of changed codes and altered algorithms. Although they made solid points, it is impossible to win a case against the judge.

Now hidden in the city streets, the rebellion hides and preserves their knowledge. A year passes, and a young man turns 21. His name is Thoran Cave.
