Little slow in the beginning but worth finishing

"Brother is a really good book, with a strong female persona as the main character, and great family relationships. The main characters are well-written, quite realistic and the way their relationships evolve is lovely to read. Sometime it drags on a bit, especially at the beginning, but do not give up: it is nice to read!"

"So slow to get going, whilst developing the main characters and many fringe/peripheral characters too. Once fairly established though, the author really doesn't do that much to develop the plot or speed up the action.. As a reader I kept hoping the plot would develop and that more information about how she chose to structure the warewolf community, it's history, connections, powers and the like would come, but it never did. The major scene was rather lacking in clarity and not very climactic. Ultimately it felt, as a reader like the book kept circling and skirting on the main issues without ever really delving in to them. Deviating from some of the more traditional warewolf ideas and patterns is something that could be brilliant, but for eg. the method for turning humans seemed rather uninspirational and although their were packs, of a sort, the hierarchy was never spelt out or named, no Alpha's, Beta's, Gamma's or Luna's, no mention of mate bonds and so forth, lending the book a significant lack of structure. The general concept was good, but unfortunately I felt the execution was lacking and the overall pace was just slow. To top it off, the book just sort of ended. After reading what was a longish book, it was wrapped up in a bow in a handful of paragraphs. It wasn't terrible, though I felt it had scope to be much more than it was, imho."
