Friendship boat
They say you can't get everything you dream or wish for. Well, i don't believe in such saying i believe you get what ever you want when you work hard for it....
Hi I'm Alison McCarthy and I'm 18 years old. I just graduated from highschool and I've been busy as hell ever since, i have 3 younger siblings Jiji, Danny and Malvis. I am a very hard working,demure, friendly to the people I'm close to, and most of all I'm a very disorganized person. Sometimes if things don't go my way i might just flip.
Its a Saturday morning and as usual Joshua and David are at my house... I and David have been friends since the 9th grade after we got into a fight. And for Joshua, we've been friends ever since his family moved into the neighborhood. Although Joshua is Older than we are but that's what makes the friendship more interesting.
David and Joshua are over at my house helping me find the perfect college for me using my laptop.
"I think this college suits you" David says
"College of applied science?" I said with a questioning look... "Are you feeling well?" Touching his forehead. Chuckles "sorry i forgot you are an art student. Well i don't know what you really want in a school."
"Yeah the last time we were checking for schools you said, and i quote"all these universities don't match up to my standards" Joshua said with a mocking voice
"I want a college that offer's all the subjects i love. Music, writing, acting, dancing etc" i said
"Dancing?" David laughs as he clicked on a school's website "how bout this one the university of arts and talents" he turned to me and smirked as he continued reading " its says you will be taught based on the talents you have" i was so excited that i didn't notice i was digging into Joshua's skin with my nails while he Groan's in pain.
"But its located in London" David says
"What!!" I yelled disappointedly "OK there's no biggy I'll just have to convince my parents" i said panicking "you know your mum will never agree to you moving to another country for studies" Joshua says as he rubs his wrist with relief.
"Come on you guys are gonna help me prep talk her" i begged
They tried talking to her about it but they had no luck.
It was a really stressful week for all of us so we decided to go out and have some fun so we went to a club i was putting on a black sparkling gown with a white sneakers and my hair parked in a messed up bun. David wore a white vest with a black jacket and a black pants and a black Balenciaga shoes. I must say its because of his dressing and the way he smirks and behave that made me fall for him that year cause he acts like one of my favorite actors Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. But that's all in the past now we are just very close friends. And Joshua wore a red T-shirt and a white jean with a brown Timber land shoe.
We came out of the car looking like we were about to walk down the MET gala red carpet.
"Alison sometimes i just can't understand your taste in fashion" David said as he chuckled.
*In the club*
David is seen with two girls and a glass of alcohol on his left hand laughing and having fun with them and Joshua is on the dance floor dancing with a random girl. Meanwhile I'm sitting on the sofa with a glass of water and my phone which was keeping me busy. I didn't notice when a guy walked up to me with a glass a drink.
"Hello, do you mind if i join you?" He said
"No i don't mind" looking at him
He sits down offer's me a glass of wine. "Thank you" there was silence from both of us for a while "so is this your first time here?" He said breaking the silence "um... No not really" i said
"Hmm okay... I'm Vincent but you can call me vince how bout you?"
"I'm Alison you can call me Alison" i said jokly "you are funny and cute too" he chuckled i just smiled at his words. "I'm the owner of JBL company and I'm just 21. I graduated from Arden university in Germany at the age of 18 how bout you" he said sounding cokey
"I'm 18 and i am trying to get into a university right now" i said
"Well try no more baby... Cause i got you covered you can come and study at one of my institute and also be working as my PA in the company. All you have to do is follow me home tonight" he said with a devilish smirk. Before i could say anything, vince was punched in the face by Joshua which made him to fall backwards to the floor. Before Mr JBL could stand up from the floor, i and Joshua had ran away. We looked for David and told him it was time to go at first he argued but when he saw the bouncers that were chasing after us he agreed.
We arrived at a park where we got out of the car and decided chill. We were seen laying down on the well trimmed green grass just staring at the stars...
"Hey, Alison remember when you had a crush on David?" Joshua says breaking the silence
"Yeah... What can i say i crush on people then realize i don't actually like them" i said laughing
"Ha ha ha real funny" David laughs sarcastically which made i and Joshua to burst into laughter.
"So what happens if your parents agrees to you studying in London...i mean like how will you handle everything" David asked
"Well... I don't really know yet. But what i do know is that i will definitely do well there, and maybe i might find someone i like that actually likes me too"
"What do you mean by that" Joshua askes with a calm voice
"You know like...all the guys I've liked don't usually like me back and some just pretend so as to get access to my body" i said with my eyes still fixed on the stars
"You know, if you paid more attention to people around you you'll know that there are guys out there who really likes you for you" Joshua said with almost a faint voice.
The next day, i was preparing for work when my mum walked into my room. "Good morning mommy" i said giving her a peck on her cheek "good morning baby...i see you are ready for work. Well before you go I'll like to talk to you about something" she sit's on the bed and gestures for me to do same as she continues
"The other day David and Joshua told me about a school they looked up for you...did you know about it?" She asked "umm..no i didn't" i lied.i felt my palm sweaty all of a sudden, my throat felt dry and my heart kept beating fast "you are lieing aren't you?" She asked. My mum knew me inside out so i couldn't hide or keep anything away from her
"But baby why didn't you tell me about it..." She said "cause i thought that you won't agree to it...so i told the guys to help me out I'm sorry mum" i said
"Well... London is a very far place for you to go and you know we don't know anybody there. But, I'll allow you to go on one condition" she said
Immediately my face brighten up as i saw a ray of hope flicked in the sky "what's that mummy" i said. "I want you to promise me that you'll go there to focus on your studies and nothing but your studies" she said "yes mummy i promise you" i said with a promising tone. "Hey look this is serious avoid every form of distraction that includes Phone, Boys, movies and parties" she said. Well to get what you want you have to make alot of sacrifices on the way "i promise I'll drop all that".
"Okay I'll speak to your dad about it"
I was so excited that i called Joshua and David and told them about it. But Joshua seemed upset when I told him about it.
Its 7:00pm and we are all sitted having our family dinner Joshua is over at our house to join us for the dinner. My dad interrupted the chatter that was going on, on the table "okay... We know that next week Alison will be leaving for London. Ailly... I wish you all the best. I want you to be focused on your studies and please try making friends" "I doubt that she would be able to make friends... I mean didn't you know how long it took for her to admit that Joshua and David were her best friends" Jiji said with one of her brow raised
Well its true growing up I had a very huge problem of calling people I don't really know my Best friends. I think I might not know them but I and the person have been hanging out for over a year and I will still not call him or her my best friend. Sometimes it drew people far away from me But, when Joshua and David came into my life they refused to go no matter how I pushed them away. ****************
Everybody laughed... "But daddy who will she be staying with over there" Danny asked "oh please I can survive by myself. besides, I'm an adult now" I said in the most cocky way I could be. "Ahah young lady, you are still our little girl. And uncle Chinonso is gonna be checking on you...he lives in Manchester so he'll come over to your place once in a while" my dad said as he proceeded in finishing his food. "Oh yeah if anybody askes if you have a boyfriend tell them yes" Melvis said but still focused on his food "who is my boyfriend?" I asked "Joshua of course" Melvis said with a quick wink, meanwhile Joshua almost chocked on his food. "Umm.." Joshua clears his throat. There was an awkward silence for a while before I said "Melvis...Joshua is not my boyfriend we are just best friends" I said feeling irritated with the conversation.
After dinner, I walked Joshua to his house. "Look I'm really sorry about what my brother said" I apologized. " you don't need to apologize... Can I tell you something? " he said "yeah sure"
He exhaled and continued "umm... This is hard to say" he said "just say it" I chuckled. "Promise you won't be angry" he said "I won't" "Remember the first time I and my Family moved to the US" he said. "Yeah... The only English you could speak was can we be friends but in your werid tongue" I said using a Ukrainian accent. He chuckled "the first day I asked you that you said yes immediately without mocking or saying anything hurtful to me. And that was the day I fell for you. Then when we became best friends I just had to suppress those feelings cause I didn't want our friendship to end. Alison I've loved you ever since we were little but I was scared to it would affect our friendship." For a moment I thought it was all a dream but the drizzle from the clouds made me know it was very much real. Well I didn't reply or say anything cos of the drizzle, I ran back home leaving Joshua at his door step... Getting home, I ran up to my room and jumped on my bed I screamed into my pillow for like an hour and I remember cursing Joshua.
