He never knew Jack shit Part 1
Buffalo, Nebraska 3636, The States.
Boy: I've been around for (4) 6 years?
Mother: Yes dear, you've been around for that long and you've grown to become quite the little demon. Just look at the mess you made, go clean yourself up and I'll tuck you into bed.
The boy is Jack Mandine, and the mother is Mary Mandine, a shroud of mystery has fallen onto this earth.
Mary cleans up after Jack, and while he cleans himself up Mary got lost in thought on her attachment to Jack; his father has died on earth’s unforgiving surface. The mess was eventually cleaned, however, she wasted so much time when she got to Jack’s room he was already slumped over on the bed stand waiting for her. She lowered him into bed and fixed his covers; his room is the cleanest. Mary turns off the light in the kitchen and goes to her room which is unsurprisingly a mess, her husband’s death was rather recent and she only has one thing to remember him by, a black cat that mysteriously came down a pipe to enter the bunker.
This cat is no normal cat as it was gnawing at frozen fish in the cryo freezer, Mary had believed this cat was his gift from him... for Jack and she also came to reason that his mask broke. Seeing this cat for the first time she believes humans have no care for their companions; a pet store on their planet has no cages, pins, or glass containers. what baffled her the most was how this cat survived the radiation and why she does not feel like kicking the cat out for contaminating the place. Out of the kindness of her heart, she pulled out an old dog bed which was a gift never used; she laid it out on the ground and immediately found a name for it.
Mary: Lenny will be your name! *spoken proudly*
The dog bed reads "Lenny" on the front, despite there never being a dog in the household.
Mary was born in 3580 but this was on her home planet Vetokhali; which was on a direct orbit towards the earth. Earth had its fair share of problems it was cool and tempered up until this point, earth had a Warm War followed by coordinated attacks with nuclear weapons, and what no one expected was for Antarctica to fight back. In 3584 the scientist and cities there researched to infuse a biochemical weapon now defunct, which acts as a poison and a reanimator, the humans who inhaled it would die a fast death only to come back from the dead, the aliens who come in contact with it die a slow death, but all the same, they may reanimate. There are remedies to it for those who can reach it in time, and for those who get bit, it’s a simple amputation within time.
The Warm War was entirely based on harsh climate change due to disastrous advancements and nuclear warfare which heated the earth, even more, it would range from 120 to 150 degrees, never dropping below 100 degrees in the 7 continents, and Antarctica became nothing more than a soup of death for wildlife.
After the Warm War, the aliens soon landed, Vepakets, or Vepa for short and they named themselves that well before they touched the earth; meaning “Stranger”. Evolution is what brought them this far, giving them their bodies, but also bringing them to this planet. Vepakets were on a last-ditch effort to get off of their home planet, it drifted for long and wide throughout space, the earth was their last stop before the planet froze up, and this planet just so happened to be their goal. Vepakets share striking similarities to humans, but they do not have a nose, and they do not have ears on the side of their heads. How do they breathe, how do they hear? it is in their head, more notably it is in between their hair, the nose is in the center of all the hair with small holes, but if one were bald they would be noticeable, and the ears are near the front and back of the head, still as small as the nose holes but split into 4 symmetrical holes in the shape of a square. Vepa have a strong bone structure compared to humans, their bones are twice as strong and sturdy, they do not have veins and arteries in normal locations the bloodstream flows entirely through the bones; an amputation or breaking of the bone is fatal, but is unlikely to be caused by humans.
Vepakets’ first contact on earth was rough, some died immediately, others drowned, and they had to make the jump from their planet to ours launch pods that break upon entering stable altitude, Mary Mandine was only 2 years old and she along with the rest of her family were stuck at sea. No one knew how to swim, they have an organ that keeps them afloat which they call “flowla” but they were sitting ducks. Mary took an initiative and paddled like a dog, never learning how to swim from any animals on their planet, she just instinctively paddled like that an earth pet. Soon after everyone followed, and they ended up in The States. There were people to greet them at shore but there wasn’t a comfortable conversation due to the language barrier, regardless they were led to a bunker and from there Mary grew up to be independent and later moves out towards the central states.
Narrator: We have a wide range of features and some dropped traits over our evolutionary life cycle. We live 200 years in length and our age is halved by 1.5, if a Vepa lives to 200, they’ve lived 133 years on earth, if one is alive for 6 years on earth they are 4 years old and they have no problem giving their age or the relative time they’ve been on earth for. Our hair is alive it can twist and turn and raise up and down at will, but for the most part, it’s kept up or down. Our brain and spine work in complex ways, there is a blue body of liquid in us called “plasm”, it encases the bones and muscle, it prevents punctures, stabs, pierces and such by freezing upon contact with air, high-speed objects such as an arrow can penetrate this plasm, bullets are effective but eventually get stopped, an arrow is 100% more effective in injuring or killing a Vepa than a measly bullet, a sniper could deal out the same damage as an arrow given the circumstances.
