Prologue - 2077
Esther’s body fell to the ground. Three seconds had been enough to take her life. The bottle of soda that had been floating in the air fell immediately, mixing its contents with the blood of the deceased. Her tearful father had rushed to her aid, but he was just another victim.
Two victims, two cursed.
In 2022, humans had noticed a sharp increase in the number of cursed in the population. All 50 states in the United States passed the same law, imprisoning every individual of their species. Being born different was now more serious than murder. It was at this point that the Guardians came into being. A non-governmental organisation that had set out to eradicate every cursed and that humanity saw as saviours. Since then, the cursed had to live in hiding from their persecutors. The truth is that humans have always been afraid of what they cannot control.
