Prologue
After a horrific encounter with a group of ruthless smugglers, Amber and her son Maddox find a dangerous-looking but badly injured alien. As time's running out, Amber has to choose between two evils, will she try to escape the pursuing smugglers with her son or will she help the alien, hoping it will protect them?
Amber chooses the latter and the alien does help her, but the cost is high.
From the moment she makes the choice to help the giant Yautja, Amber and Maddox’s life finds itself on a roller coaster and Amber ultimately has to choose between her son and her heart, between sincerity and honor, and between a life among the stars or for a home.
