" Marinette, you're going to be late for school again. ", A certain little red kwami whisper yelled into my ear.

" A few more minutes ", I groaned but got up anyway trying my best not to fall asleep again.

" Come on Marinette, cheer up. Today's going to be special, I can feel it", Tikki said giving me a small smile.

"Thanks Tikki, I hope you're right about this one", I said closing the door to my bathroom.

I sighed happily as the hot water cascaded down my back. I felt content and overall happy. My mind was drawn to what Tikki said. She was right, today felt different, it felt almost off and not in a good way. Together with the fact that Hawkmoth has been on the down low for a while made me a tad bit uneasy.

Hawkmoth had grown stronger thanks to Mayura. Everyday we come closer to defeating him but it gets harder each time.

" Marinette, you're going to be late again if you don't hurry up ", my kwami called from the door.

"Huh, I guess I lost track of time",I thought to myself.

" Tikki, what time is it ", I asked whilst I hummed to myself. I picked out a pair of washed out faded blue jeans and a great floral top.

" You have one hour before school starts ", she responded. I was unusually early. This is weird, is this what Tikki meant when she said today was different?.

" Marinette are you okay. You fazed out a bit ", Tikki said with a concerned look on her face. Sometimes I wondered how I got so lucky to have a kwami as caring as her. I guess it was in her nature, she was the kwami of creation after all.

"I'm fine Tikki, just a little spooked that I'm actually early for once". This caused her to let out a giggle in clear amusement.

" Well you're going to be late if you don't actually leave for school".

"Tikki, hide", I said as I saw the trap door opening.

" Marinette honey, time to wake -", my mother said as her head popped up.

"Oh honey, you're awake. Is there a special occasion I don't know about?", she looking amused but overall confused. I mean who wouldn't, I woke up early for once.

" No mama, I decided to wake up early for once", I responded with a smile.

I could tell she didn't fully believe me but she just shook her head in dismissal before speaking. "Well okay dear , there's food downstairs if you're hungry. I'll be in the bakery with your father if you need me".

I spotted Tikki's little form move out of her hiding place in the corner of my eye.

" Come on Tikki", I said opening up my purse for the little demigod. I watched as she floated into my purse.

"Marinette this purse seems bigger", I heard her little voice acknowledge.

" I made a little modifications. There's a side for my stuff and a side for you",I said which made her smile in return.

"You're one of the best holders I've ever had Marinette", she said floating out the purse and giving my pinkie a hug.

" Thank you Tikki. Its one thing to finish early but its another thing to actually get there an time", I said as I watched her float into her side of my purse which was stacked with a few mini cookies and a little handkerchief she could use as a blanket.

"Bye Mama, bye papa", I called out as I walk out of the bakery. You heard me I actually walked instead of ran.

The city looked like it usually was. People trying to get to work, children walking school. Overall it looked peaceful.

" Hey girl ", the familiar voice of my best friend called.

" Hey Alya", I responded.

"How's my little Buginette doing", she asked. Well you might be wondering why Alya is calling me that. Well, she accidentally discovered my secret when she say me detransform once as Rena.

" Are you still as sly a fox"

" I'll take that as a yes. Come on girl, let's go we have to meet Chloe inside", she said before practically dragging me inside.

"Hey guys", Chloe said walking next to us. She started being nicer to some people after Sabrina moved to Australia but was still bratty without realizing it. It was a work in progress if you ask me.

" Hey Chloe. How are you?", Alya replied sweetly.

"I'm the mayors daughter, why wouldn't I be fine", she said whilst flipping her hair. I gave her a stern look while Alya looked like she was going to plow a fuse.

" Sorry, I forgot being nice involves not bragging that much", she said rubbing the back of her neck nervously.

"You forgiven this time Chloe ", Alya sighed rubbing her temples.

" Come on girls, let's get to class. We don't have all day", I said trying to break the thickening ice.

"Marinette's right. Let's go before Ms. Mandelia snaps at us for being late", Chloe said. We gave her a nod of agreement before moving to class.

Heika van Walderveen: I had to get used to the style. It’s a lot of switching and getting back into the story of the characters. Also the different timelines were a bit confusing in the beginning. But once you’re used to it, it’s really quite original. The plot is good, but it’s only book 1 (out of 3), but so far so good...
