Chapter 1

A/N: this is a new story, I have not posted this story on another platform and it is the first story I posted here. I have a few other stories on another platform. Will try to post that other stories here after a little editing. Anyway, I am gonna stop rambling and enjoy reading.

There is one girl, who is naive about love and her name is Emby. And because of this, she is tired of inviting people to come over to her home and thus she built a wall around it. The wall is halfway done when one curious boy came and talked to her.

In the first few days, Emby ignore him and continued working to build the wall. Letting the boy, whose name is Jack, have one-sided conversations. He came two or three times to strike up a conversation but to no avail no response from Emby. But one day she realize that she had actually stopped working and focused on the boy’s story.

Jack then asks her questions. “Why are you building this wall and how tall it is going to be?” Emby looks at him, “it’s to protect me and my little heart here before we got hurt. How tall it would be? Maybe taller than me or you?”

Jack smiled and continued ” Could I come inside and maybe help you out?“. Emby smiled back and replied, ” unfortunately, I never let anyone inside this house without my parents’ permission.”

A few days passed after the first long exchange of conversations, Jack had been coming every day, swaying her making the wall still halfway from done.

One day, Emby asks him “why are you like this? Holding my hands, asking me on dates, are you actually asking me to be your girlfriend?”

“Why you ask? Would you be my girlfriend if I ask you to be?” Jack gives Emby a smirk. Without a second thought, Emby nodded her head, and with that Jack took her hand, bringing her outside for a date. Just like that, her hard work is left unfinished.

Emby is so happy that it seems so surreal. They kissed or should say a peck on the lips. They never went far more than that. Jack wanted more, but she refuse all the time and her nightmare came.

After two months, Jack came over to Emby’s house, and like always start talking. “Hey you know, there is one girl living in this area and I actually am going out with her.” but then gave a smirk while laughing implementing that it was just a joke.

Emby took everything in what Jack had just said and then proceed to laugh with him. After the laughter dies down, she asks him ” if that girl is your girlfriend, then who am I? What are we then? Were what between us just a joke to you?“.

There’s a hint of hesitation on Jack’s side. He smiles saying ” hey, I told you it’s just a joke. Don’t take it seriously.”

Emby does not convince by his answer and asks the question that might hurt her after hearing the answer. ” Then am I girlfriend or are we just friends?”

Jack hesitates again ” I guess we are just friends. The girl I told you about earlier is really my girlfriend”. Just like that Jack left her without taking another look at her face.

As he leaves her, Emby lifts her face and saw the girl that he mentions. ‘You were already with her before this breakup and the time you spend with me was just to know which one is the one you love the most? Guess I was only you’re little getaway from your girlfriend’. She was hurt but grateful for the time Jack gave her. Emby smiled and continued building the wall.

I enjoy the stream of thought writing style this has, though some proofreading and punctuation could help a few spots. Recommend this for ebooks and forgive a few confusing errors. Enjoyable t...
