Chapter 1
I just got home from the office after a grueling commute home. It was a usual day for me with the cathartic sensation of productivity with everything on my plate.
I was in bed, making a fuss on my phone when it buzzed into a shrilling ring of a call, making a scene in the middle of my room. I saw his name on the screen. My breath caught. My heart skipped a beat faster. Why is he calling on my personal number?
“Hello,” I said, wishing that the desperation didn't seep in my voice.
“Ma’am, my boss wants to ask you something.
I swallowed but a lump remained. I hold on to my heart that almost fell from its place.
“Yes sir, what is it?” I finally answered.
