Insight of the world

Hi readers! This is the Bookdevourer.

This first chapter is just to give a bit of insight of the world. As I go through this book/story, feel welcome to give feedback about anything, I’m all ears.

Also, I am still editing this chapter.


Skyborn:Caelum Nati (KAY-lum NAH-tih)

Description: Skyborns are Winged people. All of their wings are feathered, Some wings are attached on their backs, others are able to summon wings to replace their arms and hands.

Abilities: Powers among Skyborn are rare. The most common magic wielders are healers, then there are a few gifted Caelum Nati that can wield control over some types of elements: earth, water, fire, air (common to rare). Some Skyborn have teleporting abilities.

Rulers: King Taret Albalis and Queen Sharin Albalis with their three children; two sons and a daughter. They are known for their ability to wield Lightning.

Nightborn: Noktis Nati (NOK-tuhs NA-tih)

Description: Nightborns are winged people just like the Skyborns except their wings are more like insects and night dwellers, like bats. The Nightborns have many powers like the skyborns however some are Insectum nati (people with insect like wings) are known to be able to transform into a cluster of whatever insect their wings originate from. they also have control over elements such as

Rulers: Unknown. The Nightborn can be extremely secretive, especially when it comes to their royalty.

Humans: Humano

Description: Look in a mirror. Humans are the least magical of the four races.

Abilities: Humans are born with no magical abilities. However every century or so, around 1- 20 human anomalies are discovered. The most common element they can control is fire (how do you think we discovered fire?).

MerFolk: Gurgle Gurgli (unpronounceable above water)

Description: Merfolk are creatures that love the sea. Most of the the merfolk are able to swim in the sea and walk on the earth by shifting to from and to their sea form, of which they like to call their ‘scales’.

Sub-elements: Lighting

Names for air wielders: For just air (however rare) are called the Aeriums. Lighting wielders are called the Fulgari.

Races that have control: For the few to control air, and it’s sub-elements, that have been recorded were mostly skyborn, but all races have access to this magic, it is unheard of but not impossible.

Names for Fire wielders: For fire wielders they are named the Igniters

Races that have control:

Sub-elements: Ice and Healing ability

Names for Water wielders: For water wielders that have control over only water are named the Amnis, for those with control over ice are named the Pruina, for those with healing abilities are named Sana.

⛰️Earth⛰️

Sub-elements: Lava and Metal

Names for Earth wielders: For earth wielders that have control over only earth are named the Terrae, for those with control over Metal are named the Ferrum, for those with control over Lava or magma are named the Ignitum.

🌪️Darkness🌪️

Sub-elements: Unknown

Name for darkness wielders: Unknown. Only recorded Darkness wielder was a Nightborn several centuries ago.
