Chapter 1
A long time ago, there lived a beautiful woman in a remote part of Japan called Sakura. She was very fond of her looks, she would stare at herself in a mirror for hours picking out the perfections in her face, but one day her husband thought she was cheating on him so ,in a rage of anger he sliced her face from the sides with a sword .
He said, ‘Let’s see who will like your ugly face now.’ Later on she committed suicide due to the hate she received from people because of her disfigured face.
Her husband hid her in an abandoned boat house near a harbor. After a few months, her husband got caught and was executed, while Sakura’s dead body was locked in the boat house. Strange things started happening to the people who lived near the harbor.
People would see a beautiful girl from a window in the boat house. Later when they would go inside, they would get trapped in there by Sakura’s ghost. She would show her true self and ask the person, ‘Am I pretty?’ If they said no, she would kill them, and if they said yes, she would slice their faces just like hers.
As time passed, people created this story of hers as a Japanese urban legend, parents would not let their children play outside because they were afraid thinking Sakura’s ghost would come and take their children away. In the early 20th century, people started forgetting about Sakura and everything seemed normal. Coming to the present, there was a high ranking paranormal investigator named Soojin. She was also from japan but had heard a lot about Sakura’s legend since she was a kid.
She was planning to check out the boat house and solve the matter by going there in the evening with her friends. Will and Judy who were also paranormal investigators from outside Japan. They were known as one of the most qualified paranormal investigators in New Zealand.
Soojin packed her bag with some things such as a torch light, holy water, a bottle of water, and her phone, of course. They had to stay there for the night, so Will and Judy took some CCTV cameras to install in the boat house. On reaching the boat house, they saw a guy entering the boat house. Soojin assumed that the guy was one of Sakura's victims, so she tried to stop him, but he did not notice Soojin and went in the boat house anyways.
She hurriedly sneaked into the house after the guy as Will and Judy followed. As they entered the boat house, a storm started to appear. The sky got covered with dark clouds. Judy got this weird feeling. She told Soojin that they should go back before it’s too late, but Soojin was determined to figure this case out.
They secretly watched from behind the door, as Sakura revealed her true self to the man. Shivers ran down their spines .While the man looked just as frightened, he said in a low, trembling voice,''No'', and they watched Sakura ripping his organs out, which made them scared as ever. After a while they got distracted in whispering to each other that they did not notice Sakura had disappeared. They got out of their hiding spot. Judy and Soojin started looking around while Will decided to go up the attic ladder. He took out his flashlight and slowly climbed the ladder, while Judy and Soojin fearfully looked around making sure Sakura was gone.
Meanwhile, Will realized someone was watching him. As he looked around, he tripped and fell. His flashlight flung across the attic. As he reached for it, someone started pulling his leg. When he turned around, his heart stopped to see Sakura right behind him.
Soojin and Judy heard his scream and rushed up to see Sakura pulling out Wills tongue and blood everywhere. Judy started crying ,screaming saying she shouldn’t have come here and that Soojin ruined everything. Soojin suddenly felt a rage of anger and ran while grabbing a knife that was lying on the table and smashed it into Sakura’s face. Sakura fell to the ground moaning in pain and Judy and Soojin ran out. Meanwhile Sakura got the plan they were trying to do.
She got up leaving Will's body behind and took out the knife from her face and chased after them. Soojin got out of the house in time, but Judy got left behind. Soojin went back in and tried to save Judy, by pushing her out of the door and sacrificing herself.
She fearlessly pushed Sakura with her in the fireplace, Judy got the plan. She turned the fireplace as a fire started. Sakura's soul burned to death. Soojin also died while burning in the fire. Judy ran from the scene with teary eyes and recalled all the time she spent with Will and Soojin.
The scene shifts to a few months later where the people live near. The harbor is now free from Sakura’s ghost. Judy comes back with some news reporters to the boat house. It's all burnt down and they are looking through the remains. Judy had tears in her eyes as she saw Will’s dead body and the burnt remains of Soojin.
