Chapter 1

Living in Woodworth Pack was full of more than werewolves and hierarchy. Reine grew up so trusting of her mother and so naive of the hell she would put her through. Everyday was a constant battle smiling in front of the pack feeling the cold stare of her mother burning silent insults into her skin as she was soon becoming Luness of the on her 18th birthday was a big deal.

Reine Pov

I woke up feeling scared and sweaty of seeing myself running and leaving this territory with gnashes and knife marks against my skin, bleeding profusely in my dreams for the second time in a row. Unfortunately, I only saw the sun in my eyes as my mother drawn the curtains to brutally awakened me.

“Get the fuck up, your lucky your shitty ass isn’t dead” my mother spoke with hatred. As she left just as she quickly entered.

I knew well not to piss of my mother, remembering her ordering me to be sent to a secret room built within the pack walls only she knew about where her guards would starve and beat me for days on end. I quickly sprang to my feet and began my day trying my best to avoid that unforgettable fate once again. Today was meant to be the happiest day of my life my 18th birthday. A makeup artist and a oddly beautiful dress awaited me at my vanity The dress with a red sweetheart neckline dress swarovski crystals sewn into the dress. I couldn’t help but notice the amount of attention and items allowed to have all at once. I knew it could come with cost of what I needed to figure that and fast. I need a breather from all of this, it was to much to fast.

I left my room to find others preparing for my luness ceremony as much as I was preparing mentally for the shithole I didn’t signup for.

“Good Morning Ms. Reynolda” my pack said in unison.

“Good Morning” I beamed sarcastically.

Walking through the kitchen trying to find my bestfriend and partner in crime Afsad eating some of my yogurt I hid in the fridge last night.

“Fucker” I said through mindlink as he ate the final spoonful.

“That was delicious thanks for asking” he smiled unlawfully. After I look at him with annoyance he immediately tried to change the subject. “So who excited to be Luness? I would like to have a pool built for me in the backyard you know for testing purposes of course.”

“Sure right after you replace my yogurt.” I said eyeing him down.

“Well damn to be fair it needed blueberries.” I ran over with a cloth and half near would have strangled him to death if he didn’t run faster than me into a tight corner. Soon after we both heard footsteps coming down the main hall but is was only the one person who truly cared for me, my dad.

“Don’t you have ceremony to prepare for?” my dad said looking at me proudly.

“I do but I have time to look around before I need to be prepared, don’t I?” I said knowingly.

My dad and I were close since the moment I was born. He would tell me stories of other lunesses that came before me and all they’re great trial and errors ever since I could understand what he was saying. Whenever I was stubborn, angry, or sad my dad was there to aid me through his life lessons and his love for me. I never wanted to become luness because I was afraid of what my mother and her hidden secrets could do to me but I was also afraid of becoming someone I was not.

My dad could read me like the palm in his hand. He looked at me inquisitively while I looked confused at his prolonged staring.

“Come with me there is something I need for you to see” after the words left his mouth he was in a medium to fast pace going down the main hallway leaving little time to ask questions. Over and over he took sharp turns left and right leaving me struggling to keep up. I dark and cold hallway at the end he abruptly stopped turned and looked at me.

“What the hell” I said out of breath. I definitely need to stop missing training for sure after this.

“Watch your mouth. Now go ahead and open the door many lunesses have done this before you. You can do the same.” he said while moving out of the way to let me through to see a beautifully engraved wall and finding a near by seat to watch me from.

I came forward quite warry of the entirety of the situation as a whole. “Has mom done this before?” I asked questionably while searching the wall.

“Your mother maybe a luna but she was never a luness. She became a luna because she was mated to me, your my heir that is how you became a luness.” my dad practically chuckled.

I finally found a paw print embedded in the design of fake leaves and thorns. I pressed it and practically instantly the walls separated into two revealing a massive room filled with books and gold embellishments with a pink, purple, and blue painting with stars overhead. I looked back at my father and he simply nodded his head to tell me to go forward. I came into the room to see telescopes and a library filled with books on each side. The most important part of the room was the table on the center clearly old covered in dust for centuries.

" What happened to this room?” just as the words left my mouth the walls shut quietly.

My dad looked around the room and focused his gaze on me and sighed. “Do you know the story of the great luna.” he spoke.

" A former luness that gave up everything for her pack, yeah I know” I said in a matter of fact tone.

“Well that’s not the full story. She did give up everything however her pack and her mates pack became at war due to the fact that their families had been at war for centuries for what we don’t know. The luness had given up up her family and pack to be with her mates. She was treated as the ultimate prize if her mates pack won the war but she had met up with them one fateful night and became pregnant with twins. The babies were born as the ultimate peace makers between the bloodshed in the packs. Things that come with prosperity must also bring great devastation. No pack has been at war for centuries until the cycle would repeat itself at the birth of a luness that would come quite some time after.” He looked at me with great pity.

I realized I was the luness that was to be born. I would bring death and hostility to the packs including my own. I didn’t realize I was crying until when my dad hugged me and I cried tears I haven’t cried in a long time till now.

“I’m the problem-” I could barely say until my dad cut me off.

“You were given to me for a reason and I wouldn’t change that for the world. You have everything you need to rewrite your history.” he spoke calmly while holding my face and wiping my tears.

When I got myself back together. We then turned to leave and the door walls separated only briefly to let us pass and blended back in with it’s surroundings.

" I must go and get ready.” He turned and looked at me coldly.” You mustn’t tell anyone of what’s behind that wall it holds the great dangers that could truly do some damage beyond a war between packs.”

I watched him disappear the same way we came and soon after I began to do the same. My thought flooding with questions. Why was this here built and secluded away from everyone? What does it have to with me? How would I start a war?

All I knew was I needed to get ready for tonight. I had a lot in store for me in the next coupe of years and I needed to be ready.
