En el 2067 y luego de siglos de repudio a las mujeres, finalmente fueron extintas. Sin embargo, veinticuatro años después de oficialmente haber visto a la última fémina en el mundo y con la humanidad al borde de la extinción, una joven será vista deambulando por la moribunda ciudad y a partir de entonces comenzará la cacería hasta capturarla. Su captura estará a cargo del indolente general Lebrun, cuya finalidad será conducirla a la primera subasta de mujeres y con ello desatar una verdadera batalla entre la elite ante el deseo por poseer a la que parece ser la única fémina sobreviviente en el mundo y quizás, también, la única oportunidad del mundo para no desaparecer. En el cumplimiento de su deber, el general se cuestionará cuán correcto es permitir que sus congéneres traten como un animal cualquiera al único ser capaz de impedir que el mundo se acabe. Entre su crisis de fe hacia su propio sistema de justicia deberá decidir si dejar que la mujer se case con el hombre que ha ganado su mano en la subasta o jugarse la vida para protegerla y devolverle su libertad.
