“Do you know his name?”
10 seconds of silence. “Yea.”
“Can you tell me?”
“No.”
Anna was getting irritated. Why this kid? Sure, he was 8 years old, but she’s seen too many movies to know that if a kid refuses to tell the name of their imaginary friend after a traumatizing experience, you know you’re screwed. Unless it’s just a dumb tactic to scare people with in order to evade the truth. You never know these days. He didn’t seem to fake it. But who knows? Maybe he was just a good actor. He made her uneasy. Fake or not, Anna wanted to leave, but Anna also wanted the money. She had to stay and interrogate this creepy kid while being recorded. She was almost done, so she was going to get it done.
“Okay, well what did he look like?”
“He looks like me when I look in the mirror. Scary.”
Okay, so now this kid was making jokes, which made Anna not believe a thing this kid said anymore. Now she was ready to leave. “Is that it? You’re making a joke? Your parents get killed and you make a joke?”
The boy looked down, ashamed. “S-sorry. I just thought that I could lighten the mood a little... Sorry.”
Anna frowned. “You said the killer looked like your reflection... Are you the killer?”
He stared in silence for a few seconds before saying “I don’t know.”
“What does that mean?” The fact that he didn’t say no scared Anna quite a bit.
“He looks like me. He says he’s me, but I saw him kill and it wasn’t me.” The boy started crying. “Sorry... sorry.”
Anna did not know what to say to this or what to think. She was confused. Was this kid serious? Should he be believed? She never experienced something like that. Was this enough information for her report? Just one more question for the boy. “Does he have another name? Like a nickname?” Maybe his answer could help a little.
“Hunter.”
“Why? Does he hunt his victims?”
“Yeah. He hunts the people he doesn’t like.” He paused and looked around as if he heard something. Then he turned to Anna. “He doesn’t like you.”

9:13 pm
The radio announced that there was going to be traffic. Anna wouldn’t have cared if she wasn’t in traffic. She needed to get to her parents and make them dinner. She wondered if her dad had gotten the fence fixed yet. Some drunk driver crashed into her house, destroying the fence, and barely damaging the walls. Then he drove away, never to be seen again. Her mother was hit by the car and went to the hospital. Anna had missed many work days for being with her mother. She decided she was going to work again and her first job back, they brought in Lucarius Wott to interrogate. His parents were murdered and he wouldn’t say who murdered them. She tried her best but only got the fake name.
10:20 pm
She was late. Her father was probably asleep then. She might as well be making dinner for herself. She started making dinner and breakfast for the day after for her father.
“You’re back?”
Anna turned to see her father in his robe, clearly tired.
“Yeah, had to stay for a bit,” she answered.
He looked at his watch and looked up with an expression of sarcasm. “Yeah, quite a bit.”
“Sorry, you want some dinner?”
“Not right now.” Anna continued making dinner. Her father sat on the sofa. “So, what happened at work? Why so late?”
“Just some kid who possibly killed his own parents and claimed not to.” She had finished dinner by the time she finished her sentence. “Well, you should get to bed. Let me take you.” Anna led her father to his room and once she made sure he was resting, she walked back to the kitchen.
“So, what’s your name?”
Anna jumped and turned to the television. To her surprise, the interview she had a few hours ago was playing. The problem with this scenario is that Anna didn’t have the recording to the interview.
“Lucarius Wott,” answered the boy.
“Lucarius what?”
Anna froze of shock because the voice did not come from the recording. She slowly turned to the sofa her father was sitting on earlier. There sitting was Lucarius, except it wasn’t Lucarius. His skin was grey, eyes pitch black, and some bloody holes where his ears should be. His mouth was basically nonexistent with some slits which made it look like if he opened his mouth, his flesh would rip apart. And his fingers. They weren’t fingers. They were blades. Anna turned to run, only to be stopped by this monster who seemed to teleport in front of her. She remembered that Lucarius had called this creature Hunter. The boy was right. Hunter raised what resembled his hand and rubbed Anna’s arm, ripping through her skin.
“You should, like, you know, check on your parents real quick or somethin’,” he said, smiling. “Your mother’s waiting for you in her room.” He let go off Anna and shooed her away. “Go go go!” He cackled as Anna quickly ran to her parents’ room, scared for her life.
Anna ran towards the bed to wake her father up, just to find her mother laying there. She seemed to be asleep. There was a note next to her which read:
I’ve been lying on this bed
Your loving father stole my heart
That’s probably the reason I am dead
Now check the closet, my dear sweetheart
She quickly turned towards the closet and ran to open the door just to find the most horrifying sight she had ever laid eyes on. Her father was dead. His eyes were gone and in his hand, he had a bloody heart. Anna screamed and ran to her mother, removed the sheets, to find her mother’s chest cut open. She wanted to puke, the tears in her eyes blinding her. She sat next to her mother, paralyzed with fear, screaming in pain. She didn’t notice when Hunter appeared until he sat next to her and mimicked her cries, then laughing. Anna tried to punch him, but he moved his arm so fast, he was carrying her arm in less than a second. She screamed and turned, but Hunter was there and pointed two fingers at her face, shoving them into her eye sockets and laughing as he was slowly killing her. Then with one last stab, he laughed at his joke from earlier. “Lucarius what...” He looked at the family he ended and left, turning into just another shadow of the night.
