Story 1:The God of the Sun

Thunder rumbled across the dark face of Earth as Robek sat watching the gray, cloudy sky from his throne. “I’M HUNGRY! ” he shrieked, looking past the Throne Room, staring at the spirits and demons he’d created. They roamed the earth all day, surviving off the moon’s dark energy. Robek, being the God of the moon as well as the supreme ruler of the world, found it quite amusing to watch the lost spirits roaming around, crying shrieks of pain but knowing that they couldn’t be freed. His dark face gleamed in the moonlight and his frail hands sat criss-crossing in his lap.

Robek looked so beautiful but terrifying at the same time; like Satan, the God of evil, mischief, and demonic-looking creatures. He had created these spirits and demons with the help of Satan himself — for amusement and entertainment purposes. Emerging out of his thoughts, Robek abruptly got up and walked towards the window. All of his laughs subsided as he looked up at the crying moon.

Engulfed in deep thought once again, Robek walked out of his palace into the Land of the Living Dead. The only sounds he heard all around him were screams of inexplicable pain. Struck by a shocking observation, Robek realized that there was too much chaos in the world. Then— out of nowhere – a bunch of demons sprang towards Robek. Coming back to his senses, he fended off the herd of monsters with his special power, the Almighty Push of the Moon. How dare they attack a God, The Supreme Ruler of the World, the Almighty Robek?, he thought to himself, enraged. As he retreated to his palace, more and more spirits and demons tried to attack him. They just never stop coming! Not that he couldn’t kill them all, but he felt too overcome by shock to react.

Robek shut the royal palace doors just in the nick of time. He heard a loud bang behind him as the doors slammed on a group of creatures trying to get inside the palace. Robek wouldn’t allow that! Who were they to try to attack me, the God of the Moon? He sat back on his throne, thinking how he could put an end to all this nonsense.

He needed to come up with a solution, and quickly. He tried and tried to come up with a strategy, but his brain wasn’t reacting right now (why now, of all times, he thought). Suddenly, out of nowhere, Robek heard a loud thump and then a BOOM! at the doors to The Royal Palace. Furious, Robek stood up, flew to the door, and opened it (Yeah, BIG mistake.). He was horrified at what he saw.

The Moon was hovering above the earth, getting larger by the second. It was now bigger than Earth itself, which was BAD news. Robek could practically feel the hatred and chaos in the atmosphere surrounding him. He shot pulses of blinding yellow-orange light. The demons cowered away from it, trying to get out of its reach. The unlucky ones that never fled were erased from the surface of the earth forever. Robek watched silently as the ashes left behind by the unfortunate monsters’ sad, lonely ashes slowly fell to the ground.

And then– out of nowhere– thump! Robek fell to the floor as the horrifying creatures surrounded him. He pushed them off and tried to get up, only to be attacked from behind again. As a tired Robek lay there on the ground, struggling to get up, he saw the gigantic monster of a moon enveloping the earth. It was now so huge that it could cover Jupiter, the largest planet, entirely! What a mess! Robek couldn’t believe he’d gotten himself into this. Finally, he somehow managed to get up.

Shooting yellow flashes with all his might everywhere he could, Robek killed demons and spirits here and there. As the Moon enveloped around Earth, Robek tried to control it; he WAS the God of the Moon, after all– but wait. What was this?

Robek realized that he could no longer control the moon. It had grown too large for his power; it was beyond his reach, just barely out of Robek’s grasp. He was helpless now, with demons surrounding him, closing in from all sides. These screams were going to be the final sounds he heard. Robek’s whole life was flashing before his eyes. He wished he’d taken the Elixir of Immortality to stay alive forever, just like all the other gods. Instead, he had insisted on not drinking it till the last moment – for the thrill of it. Now that decision would cost him his life.

Well, Robek wasn’t going to go without a good fight. Suddenly, he felt a yellow flash of divine strength arise from his body. He didn’t know where this power had come from, but apparently Robek had now mastered it. Then, out of the blue, he got a crazy idea. An idea so crazy, in fact, that he might die trying it. He felt hopeful again. He felt that he might be able to balance Order and Chaos, after all. A memory of his beloved father Sobek, the Creator of the World, formed from deep within his thoughts. Robek remembered how his dad had arisen from chaos itself to maintain order. Sobek, also called Order by some, fought an eternal battle with Chaos, deep in the depths of the Pit of Creation. Now, though, Robek thought he had an idea to help his father with the ever-lasting battle.

Robek slowly retreated toward the palace while shooting out light energy from literally every part of his body. He was getting increasingly stronger every second. When he finally reached the entrance doors, he pushed them open and closed them behind him to take temporary cover while he executed his plan. Robek realized that the divine light energy coming out of his body was the only power source that could overcome the chaos and kill these creatures for good. He just had to create a ball of light energy bigger than the earth and moon combined.

Robek was in the middle of the energy that he would name…. the Sun. As he flew higher and higher into the sky, demons started perishing everywhere. Even the moon unwrapped itself a little to let the mighty Sun through. It grew larger and larger, and eventually made the moon completely dis envelope Earth and shrink. Robek was going to die; he could feel it— But at least he’d saved the world his father had fought so hard to create. As the moon shrank back to its original size and the Sun hovered over the world, Robek looked at his creation for the last time. He had saved the world, at last. Perhaps dying wouldn’t be as bad as he’d thought.

His eyes closed and he saw a last flash of beautiful, divine yellow light of the Sun as he fell to the earth as a savior. Robek smiled as he fell to his heroic death….
