The Familiar (Mythology)
Traditionally Familiars are a spirit guide to a magic user typically a witch. They have also been known as a companion creature. The twist to familiars in the following story are as follows.
Familiars in this universe are a spirit creature from the world that is alongside ours. Conveniently called the spirit world. Spirits of higher levels are the ones that keep order and also punish those that misuse and abuse spirits. Though you must do something truly horrendous or wrong to pull a spirit of this level into the physical world to collect you.
The levels for Familiars by magic users are as follows
Royal class
High class
Medium class
Low class.
The level of witches to Familiars are as follows. A familiar is only born with one they are capable of being a mate to. This they call their true witch. Though witch is a general term used most often for magic users. However these are the levels.
Sorceress
Witch
Mage
Enchanter
Witch is the most common class of magic user and why most are called this. The vast majority of magic users are female. The vast majority of familiars are male. Long ago it was realized when witches called upon spirits to help in their magic use, that familiars were actually mates to witches. Witches agreed to being the familiars other half, of bonding with them under a few conditions. Familiars had their own as well.
These pertain to a true pair and there are witches that still try to trap familiars to them to increase their magic unfairly.
Witches at the merging age (the age her magic settles and is capable of mating with her familiar) A familiar will bond with his witch’s soul and magic to form their bond. Because of this he is at her beck and call, he must do what she orders in nearly all things.
Familiars know immediately upon birth who their true witch is. They tend to come to her then and will appear like a child no matter their actual age. They will grow and age with her, as they are still her spirit guide too.
Since the witch gets control of her familiar and most his actions, the familiar is the one that decides if they will have children. His witch can not refuse him should he wish to lay with her. This is the best way for them to feed off magic and bonding.
These are the most important facts to have, just like with all things some simply can not help but break the rules. Some can’t help but take what is not theirs to take…
