Wake Up

The year is 2077, The world we once knew is gone. Overrun by beasts and monsters long forgotten by time. Things that the human civilization dubbed “Myths, Urban Legends, Folklore, and Monsters” As Humans fought for life, one girl was just trying to survive. She had seen her family and friends massacred by these beasts. She vowed with those images in her head, forever etched into her memories to avenge the peace that earth once was. Without looking back she ran into the world of the unknown, The world that no longer represents the one she was born into.

The moment the Girl stepped foot outside her safe little sanctuary, A run-down, decrepit, and moss-covered building she was targeted by every beast around. She ran as fast as she could for as long as she could not looking back at the terrors that had begun chasing her. She was running for what felt like ages, however, she was running out of breath, Gasping for air as well as running out of the energy she needed to keep running. Although hope seemed grim for her, The girl had an idea, She had passed this area before albeit more carefully than now. She remembered a place called “frozen for Time” A little company that specializes in cryogenic stasis rooms. Her only chance was to get there and hide from the beasts’ Chasing her.

With one last gasp, using everything in her power The Girl full force Sprinted towards the building. However, The growls, Screams, and Moans Were Growing ever so close. With all her strength The Girl was able to tackle the door To the building wide open. Looking back one more time she sees something right behind her, A shadow-ish figure running on all fours right behind her. Panicked she turned around ready to fight for her life, But realized the rooms to freeze herself must be in the area she is currently in.

The Girl crouches down right before the shadow figure enters the room. Peeking above the table she gets a good look at the beast. Claws that are as sharp as a knife, Eyes so Red its as mesmerizing as it is terrifying, Matted fur covered in blood and muck. The Girl duck's back under the table and begins crawling towards the door behind her not paying attention to the floor beneath her. Only stopping to look at the beast to make sure it doesn’t see her, As she keeps crawling on the ground not paying attention to what’s in front or under her she cuts her hand on a piece of glass that was on the decrepit floor.

Immediately, The Beast Lets out an Ear Piercing Howl. No longer concerned about being quiet or sneaky she stands up and makes a B-line towards the door. The beast sees her and pounces off the wall to a table and lunges off it towards the girl Managing to Cut her face with its knife-like claws, as well as pushing her with enough force to shatter the door behind her with her body. Gasping for air, and with blood, in her eyes, the girl prepares to die. The beast Readies to kill its prey and prepares to lunge at the girl. The Girl closes her eyes and leans back ready to meet her end. The Beast Lunges one more time to finish off the girl, however, she remembers her purpose and readies herself for the attack by putting both arms up to shield any vital part of her body. The beast then tackles the girl, however, because of how she shifted her body she once again is sent flying backward. This time she is sent through a wall into a metal room.

Realizing she is in the Cryo Chamber The Girl slams the door shut. The rooms were built to withstand an impact of a nuke. Realizing she accomplished her Mission in this part of her life, The girl closes her eyes and leans back bloodied and in pain letting the frost consume her body. She now falls into a deep sleep hoping to wake up at a better time. And A better place than the situation she is currently living in.

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...
