Sam slammed his door shut, wiping tears from his eyes, watching the red and blue flashing lights of the police cars fade away from his home, Colby’s home. Sam couldn’t stop thinking about his best friend, those news reports and posters hanging around downtown, the ‘Amber Alerts’ even if Colby wasn’t a child. It had been days since Colby’s disappearance, Almost a week now and all Sam had to rely on was the police department and one foggy camera footage. The day Sam saw the footage felt like decades ago, though it was only yesterday. The police had found a video of cloaked figures taking Colby into a black minivan, the license plate covered by a black tarp making it nearly impossible for tracking. The police had told Sam they had a lead, maybe having some idea of where Colby was, but Sam knew it was false hope. As he laid down on his bed, Sam studied his ceiling, watching a daddy-long-leg spider craw up into its nest of webs and settle down. “I should probably get to bed,” Sam said aloud to everyone yet nobody at all. “Oh, but Sam, you could have prevented Colby’s capture! It was your fault in the first place!” He argued with himself. It was true, the only reason Colby had to be missing was that he and Sam had an argument that night. Colby wanted to be done with the paranormal and Sam was upset about this, their whole carrier was making sure people knew it existed but Colby kept saying ‘No’, Sam had already got an attachment and they weren’t even sure if it had left him or not. “Stupid Sam,” He laughed, “Losing your best friend over a bunch of ghost shit. What are you? A psychopath?” Sam paused for a moment, watching as the spider catch a fly in its net. “Am I a psychopath?” The statement ran through Sam’s thoughts the remainder of the night until somewhen he dosed off to a light slumber.

ALL YOUR FAULT! All Your Fault! all your fa- “Sam.”

Sam’s eye’s shot open, chills running down his back, sweat dripping down his face, his hands clammy, his body shaking. “I’ll stay with you.” A raspy voice spoke in his right ear, he shot up turning on the lamp and searching for who had spoken to him but found nobody in the room with him. “Sally?” Sam asked dumbfounded though the voice was not feminine nor childish; Not his attachment speaking- than who? Sam unplugged his phone from the wall and check his notifications;

𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝙵𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚢

𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝙵𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝙺𝚊𝚝

𝚈𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚞𝚋𝚎: 𝚂𝚎𝚝𝚑 𝙱𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚎𝚗 𝚄𝚙𝚕𝚘𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚍...

Another shiver ran down Sam’s spine as he read the last notification;

𝚃𝚑𝚛𝚎𝚎 𝙼𝚒𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚍 𝙲𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚜 𝙵𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝙷𝚞𝚐𝚘 𝙿𝚒𝚎𝚛𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚔

𝙲𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝙱𝚊𝚌𝚔? 𝙸𝚐𝚗𝚘𝚛𝚎.

Hugo was one of the Policemen helping with Colby’s disappearance, he had discovered the camera footage and had interrogated about fifteen people each day. Sam took a deep breath and taped the ‘Call back’ Button, waiting for whatever the investigator had to say.

“Is this Samule Golbach?”

“Yeah, this is Sam. What’s up?”

“It’s Colby.”

Tears formed once again in Sam’s eyes, only this time more violently as Hugo continued what he found remaining of Colby Brock.
