Chapter 1

Chapter 1

When life offers you a dream so far beyond your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end. I have always thought about my life, my dreams

.All those thoughts were my bedtime story.

My name is kind of weird-Kira. I live with my family, with my parents and two brothers Jack and James.

In the summer of my first year of high school, it was a time when people’s lives needed a change, opening up new doors moving forwards to the unknown future, therefore; we had to change. So we moved out to another city near my grandparents’, for obvious reasons, that change caught me up in my grief, it was hard to say goodbye. So moving away and adjusting to a different environment was not that easy. My father drove me and my best friend to my grandparent’s first day we arrived, we felt homesick, we tried our best to move on and I had to accept the change and move forward because there was no time for regrets, and because life had a different plans .

Rim was my best and ever friend. Our friendship has been for over ten years ago. She was everything to me. She was only five years old when she lost her father. At the middle school, she lost her mother, but she never gave up.

On our third year, the year of graduating, she earned a scholarship in a competition to study abroad for one year. I was incredibly happy for her. She refused to go at first; she was not ready to leave us behind, but I hardly could convince her. She deserved the best, and I thought that travelling and making some changes would be good for her.

The day she was leaving was full of grief and sadness. A whole one year was a bit of too much .

“Kira! I’m going to miss you.” Cried. Her eyes were blood colored as red.

“I know you were crying the whole night too and now you’re pretending to be strong, as always you’ve been doing.” Said as she hugged me. We were both crying, my mom joined us and said that she was proud of us.

“Promise me Kira, you’ll call me every day in the morning.” Requested Rim.

“In the morning? Why specifically in the morning? “I asked.

“So that I call you in the evening.” She winked.

“Ok I promise, I’ll call you every day in the morning no matter what.” I promised.

“That’s my girl, keep your word and I’ll do so.” Said as she went to the airport pass. As she was walking through the gate, I was standing strongly, sadly at the spot for five minutes watching her leaving. Back then, I could recognize the feeling of someone dear to your heart leaving just like a blink of an eye. I could understand how she felt when she lost her mother. Such a horrible feeling.

“C’mon Kira. We’ve to go now. Rim’s gone.” Said my mother.

“Yeah, let’s go, besides you need to prepare yourself for tomorrow.” Added my father. “It’s university. Forget it?” He ended.

“You’ve to do your best. It’s the final year.” Said my mother.

Sharda: This reads like if it's the author's first book. There were a lot of missing things to make the story feel real. I appreciated the good grammar and the storyline was good. It just needed some more, the book felt a bit rushed.
