She

She is no different from you and me. Like many other teenagers, she is obsessed with social media and her iPhone. She loves her family and strangers. She goes to school and gets A’s and B’s. The young girl wants to give away some of the things she does not need anymore and is delighted whenever her mom says that they should give away some of her things.

Of course, she has friends, but she is a homebody. She only really hangs out with them at school. She loves musicals, TV shows, and movies like The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Spongebob Squarepants, Labyrinth, Harry Potter, and anything directed by Tim Burton. She also really likes to read, write, play piano, sing, and try new things. Writing is an escape for her. It makes her forget all of us her troubles. She could also say that writing gives her the chance to fully express herself.

She is no different from you and me. Yet there is something that sets her apart from anyone else.

Above all these things, she loves God. She worships Him when she can and prays morning, noon, and night. Sometimes they are with her teachers, family members, and friends. Every prayer they recited she would repeat under her breath, always beginning and ending with the sign of the Cross. Yes, she has the Holy Spirit living inside of her.

But her life isn’t perfect.

Very few people knew of her internal struggles. She recently started looking up a long-dead actor who plays a major part in her childhood, and as such, looked up the names of his children. She was saddened to read on Facebook that his youngest daughter isn’t a Christian and that she will “never change her mind about Christianity”. It isn’t just her she worries about. She knows of a lot of other people, most of them famous for their work on screen and television, who are non-believers, too.

Non-believers. These are the kind of people she prays for. God told her to not worry, and although she prays for Him to take it away, she feels as though she sometimes can’t help it. Prayer is another escape. She knows that she is safe, wrapped in God’s arms. She wishes that others could experience it, too.

Then along comes the Serpent. He sometimes makes her think that what she is doing isn’t enough. That prayer and spreading the Gospel on her TikTok account isn’t enough. He sometimes plants doubts in her young, not fully matured mind about God’s existence and her faith. This makes her cry sometimes, and she thinks the Devil is laughing at her.

All she has to do is continue to pray. She says, “Get thee behind me, Satan!” and he leaves her alone. For a little while at least. He sometimes goes away when she sings her fight song. No matter what the Enemy tells her, she will continue to pray and spread God’s word until the day she is in Heaven.

And during and after prayer, she knows that people are being healed and being saved by God. They realize that they were wrong about Christianity. She knows one other thing.

In the end, God ALWAYS wins.
