Chapter 1
BACKGROUND
A little summary of the events that brought them together…
A little rewind of the time…
Adelia and Ray met on a virtual forum. Despite having many things unique to them, they were always looking for each other’s attention. They had many friends but whenever one was talking the other never interfered in other’s matter. They were desperate for each other’s attention but both were too reluctant to speak or share their feelings.
But one unique thing that Ray liked to do was to say gud night to Adelia whenever he would leave and in return she said the same to him. It was the only involvement of them with each other. It was famous in that forum that Adelia saying gud night to her friends was one of the cutest things and Ray wanted to hear it her say that. Ray, in spite a popular person in the forum, seldom participated in virtual voice chats. Henceforth he had heard her talking but they never chat with each other.
Everything was going fine as usual. Until one day Ray gathered up his courage and said hi to her. But to his surprise her friends were watching her. And started barging in, asking questions and being curious why did he come up with that? After such an experience, he, came up with the result that he won’t talk to Adelia ever again in the forum coz of her overprotective friends.
But Ray had something else going on in his mind. Adelia used to have emo and depressive pfps which deceived people into thinking she was an shy emo girl. And Ray wanted to be empathetic towards her. But it was not his aim rather he wanted to start networking and grow his forum and needed friends. So he wanted to invite her and her friend into his personal forum so he could make it grow. Which somehow failed..
Casper, a 22 year old fine man and one of their friend, watched them trying to interact each other but couldn’t. He was already friends with Adelia but he befriended Ray as well. Both of them started sharing their ideas and became friends in no time. Then one day Casper asked him about Adelia.
Ray wanted to invite some friends in his forum. One day he messaged Adelia “Hey can we talk?” She replied “yeah! Sure”. “How are you! Its been a long time since I was actually thinking to talk but I didn’t know what to” He told her in somewhat shy and nervous manner. “I’m alright thanks, I did just get back from like an 8 hour drive across Germany lol so kinda tired” She told him. “how about you?” She asked. “Just sad”. “Why?". “I am out of luck today I guess”. “Why do you think you’re having a bad luck?”."Coz every person I talked to today Blocked me lmao” “Yeah I get why you think that’s bad luck. Well I haven’t yet so you know”. “Doesn’t luck work differently for each of us?” Rather taking into account of what he told her she just instantly replied “Well I have no clue what you just said but I can tell you a joke to make you happier”. And at the same time Ray’s internet died. “Well since you didn’t answer I’m going to tell you anyway. Are you in Paris?...coz “Eiffel” for ya” After 10 minutes Ray came back online and replied her with a smirk on his face “Is this flirting? ....And well it is kinda laughable coz it took me 3 months to get into your direct messages".Now he already had a pretty much idea that she likes him already but he was very reluctant to believe that. And that’s how they started chatting with each other. It was pretty obvious that they would be liking each other in no time.
Being nervous he said to Casper “We just started messaging each other for like a week and nothing else”. Due to the fact that Adelia had too many over protective friends Ray messaged her personally but it had remained no longer a secret because Adelia didn’t know how to keep secrets. “So how is she?” “I don’t understand what you mean by that” “I mean how is it going with her? I know you love birds hide to show this but if you like each other why not get into a relationship” “ugh...” Ray got nervous suddenly. "I think you’ve got a wrong idea about us. We are no love birds”. “ oh c’mon Ray! we know everything “ At that time he didn’t know Adelia was in touch with Casper. And to his surprise she was telling everything to him including the jokes they shared and memes they had in common with themselves only.
Then one day Casper asked Ray what will he do further? Ray had no idea what he was talking about so he asked him to clarify. Casper said “What will you do if Adelia would ask to show yourself to her? Will you ask her then? ” “Ugh… Well friendship is one thing and trust is another and idk if I trust her with that but if she show me I will think about it”. “If you want I can ask her to show herself to us”. “ Can you do that?” “Of course I can”. “Mhmm! ok, then I would like to know her”. After a while Ray messaged Adelia about that “Hi, if you don’t mind I would like to see you”. “Only if I can get where you live”. Since there was a violation of privacy and situation seemed like more of doxing, Ray refused that. “I am sorry, I can’t tell you where I live, but instead I can show you one of my drawings and I have not shown them to anyone else yet”. “Ok!". It seemed reasonable for her. After a while she sent him her picture of someone sitting on the bed in front of the mirror with the phone in her hand. She told him it was an old picture of her. He found her cute and adorable. Her meek smile and way of dressing suggested him that she was updated with the newer fashion and style of his age. To confirm that it was her, he asked Casper about it. Casper agreed that the same picture has been sent to him as well. And that he too found her cute. It made Ray somewhat jealous but more skeptical towards her.
But Casper suggested Ray to ask her to get together with her. The pressure on Ray was building up since he didn’t want Casper to make any move on her but he didn’t know Adelia enough to get into the relationship. It was a confusing moment for him. Another thing that was of worth noting is that though Adelia has face revealed herself while Ray hadn’t seems like it was wrong of him to be skeptical of her but from Ray’s point of view, it was too good to be true. Adelia was not only smart but too mature and on the way she was pretty as well. Brains with beauty is a rare combination and he was skeptical if it really was her behind everything. This uncertainty and skepticism is the basis of some privacy and security on the internet but if one falls in this edgy trap only God knows what worse this mistake might bring since this insecure and unsupervised use of internet is not only dangerous to girls but for boys as well and especially teenagers. Based on this unfortunate trust after a few days Ray again asked for a picture of her, thinking she might give a different one this time but she did give a different but slightly same picture. Unfortunately Ray had nothing but to trust his instincts. And for the same reason he decided he can’t trust her completely but not only that although if he did trust her, he was worried of his privacy and name since not only he was forum’s in charge but a lot of people’s trust was in him and he could not take the chance of naivety just for a sake of an online relationship. He wanted to know her more.
