The Amulet Holders

Milana was born from her mother, of course, but during birth, Milana’s mother started weakening, leaving the doctors frantic to save both Milana and her mother’s life. Unfortunately, the woman in labor did not make it, leaving just Milana’s father to take care of her. However, her father was devastated at the thought of losing his beloved wife and blamed the child for it. He placed Milana in an adoption center as a newborn and she was quickly adopted by a barren couple that could not have children. Years passed, and everything seemed normal until her adoptive father gave Milana, at age 15, a bracelet with a stunning red heart-shaped ruby embedded in it. It was told to give her the great power of love. She chose a nickname; Valentina; which would be used from now on as long as she was the love bearer. This was how the new generation of the Amulet Holders started.

Soon, two other people, picked from the streets by Valentina after passing a test, got added to the Amulet Holders group. Amiah, nicknamed Icy, was the oldest one, at age 16, was given a piercing blue amulet that looked like an endless void.

Next, a girl named Caitlyn was chosen and given the nickname Paws after the smooth, paw-shaped quartz amulet she was given. This amulet was so intricate, but also immensely fragile. Paws was the youngest of the current 3 holders, being only 14, but was picked for her kindness to stray animals.

Valentina’s adoptive father, now called Master, still hadn’t chosen anyone for the strongest amulet; the fire amulet. To bear the fire amulet, you must be willing to go first in every fight, no matter the danger. You must also be courageous and likable to everyone. Very few people are like this, which made it a struggle to find a worthy fire bearer. Master had practically given up on finding someone and had already started training the others. The first practice was transforming into their hero outfit. Each amulet had different ways to prevent identity theft.

Valentina went first by tapping her amulet 2 long times, and one short time. Her hero form automatically braided her hair with a strip of neon pink in her light brown hair. Her outfit contained a black, long-sleeved top with strips of pink, and a short, black skirt replaced her shorts, with one longer side on the skirt. A millisecond later, a pink cape emerged from her back, probably used for flying. After this transformation, her single bracelet did not change.

Paws went second. She tapped her paw-shaped amulet 1 short time and one long time. Her long hair loosened from its ponytail, giving her black hair with blond highlights. Paws’ amulet got transformed into earrings and she was given a vintage lolita dress with white tights. Her beige cape appeared on her back at the same time a cat ear headband made its way onto her head. Alongside her clothes, Paws was also given a small purse, probably filled with dog treats.

Icy was hesitant at first, then finally gave in. Her hairstyle changed to blond and curly, with an icy blue headband that contained her amulet. She wore a corset with a medium-length skirt with long socks that went up to her thighs. Unlike the other two girls, she did not have a cape, but a bright bow instead. Icy’s bare arms got covered with white gloves.

“Wow! You guys all look so pretty!” Valentina exclaimed, “Hold up. Our house is very small. How will everyone live here?”

Master cut her off and said to her surprise, “We don’t have to worry about that. I bought an entire mall that we can live in! Plus all the stores, with extra space!” Valentina’s eyes widened, as she had assumed her family was poor.

“Yay!” Paws exclaimed, “but I still need approval from my mom because I would need to drop out of school.”

Master nodded and said, “Your parents can live with us, we have a lot of space. With our training, you will also be homeschooled and will take regular school lessons 3 times a week.” Master hesitated, “Do you guys want to see the house now?” All girls nodded in agreement, and he teleported them using his powers to the used-to-be mall.

“Are we capable of teleporting ourselves later on?” Icy asked, “It seems cool.”

“Yes,” said Master, “Speaking of learning, there are certain levels of power you three have. You will find in the new rooms I will show you, the list of 10 levels of powers for your own element. Now go, explore, you won’t need a map to find your rooms, you will be able to feel the force of it.”

Valentina went straight to her room, filled with excitement. She was easily guided by the warm, cozy feeling that drew her in. The room was big, the size of a mansion, and Valentina had no idea how it fit in the mall. When she first walked in, she was greeted by two maids who bowed their heads in welcome. The first thing she saw was the marble fountain indoors with stairs around it. A bright, sparkling chandelier swung from above.

Valentina looked around. In total, she found one master bedroom, 4 guest bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, an indoor pool with a jacuzzi, a kitchen the size of the master bedroom, an office, a gigantic closet, and a special room that held a book with the 10 levels of power. Her favorite gadget in the house was a candy machine that made every candy you can think of. Everything was a shade of pink or red, with some white.

Paws were greeted with the same size room but the room was filled with pets. She had 6 dogs, 6 cats, 3 bunnies, 4 guinea pigs, 2 mice, and a chameleon that always burped. She didn’t complain though as she loved animals. In her fountain, there were magical fish swimming gracefully, leaving trails of sparkles following the glowing fins. In addition to her room, she had another room which was an adoption center. Paws was surprised when she saw a “peanut-flavored anything” machine in her room. Apparently, she could make anything with peanut butter, some as simple as peanut butter ice cream or peanut butter-flavored fish sticks.

Icy’s room was different. Sure, her room was the same size as the others, but everything else was different. Instead of the fountain, she had an ice carving of herself. Perfectly carved, not a single shave out of place. As long as Icy stood there, it seemed it would never melt. She had her own machine that made whatever ice cream she wanted. Her 10 levels of power looked the exact same as the others, despite the other differences in the room.

The girls used their phones to message each other, and soon they met in the middle of the building. It took half an hour to find the middle, considering the size, but they ended up succeeding.

“Icy! Paws!” Valentina exclaimed, “Let’s explore together! But first, let’s get food. I’m STARVING over here.” Both girls agreed, aware of their own empty stomachs. They headed towards the smell of food, guided by Paws’ strong sense of smell.

“Woah” was all Paws’ could say when they found a full-sized food court, all free, with all different types of restaurants. The smell was overwhelming, but not in a bad way. Master was already sitting at one of the tables, enjoying Japanese takoyaki. When he saw the girls, he waved hi and went back to eating. Valentina went straight to Panda Express, Paws went to food for dogs, thinking she smelled something good, but went straight back out, and Icy somehow didn’t mind eating an ice cream sandwich with an ice cream slush for lunch.

They then split up, arguing about where they wanted to go first. Valentina went to Sephora and got a heart necklace, then she went to Starbucks to get a Strawberry Frappuccino. She went to many clothing stores until 11 pm, getting as much stuff as she could hold (everything was free). Paws decided not to go shopping and to go to her room to feed all her numerous pets. Icy decided she wanted to go grocery shopping but spent half her time in the frozen food aisle before deciding to get Drumsticks Ice Cream.
