"What do we have here?" Lily laughed. Her partner had already found their cozy little spot under the tree.
"Lily? You're here already?" Abby frantically started trying to get things set up. They had been lying under the tree for maybe half an hour but didn't notice the time fly by. The little picnic they had created for their partner wasn't set out as they had hoped. So the presentation was a little lacking. However, Lily didn't mind. No, that was just like Abby, and she loved every moment of it.
"What is this? Wine? Did you suddenly become a connoisseur?" Lily teased. She adored wine, especially white wine, but knew Abby thought it was the worst.
"I hope you like it," Abby commented, pulling out the salads. They were clearly from the local grocer, the labels pulled off, but Lily didn't mind as she spied the raspberry one. She adored raspberry, almost as much as she adored Abby.
"How did you-" know, is what she wanted to say, but was cut off by a goose running towards them honking loudly. Abby made a move to shoo it away, but it kept running back. Lily spotted a patch of tall grass and weeds nearby that would make a perfect nesting spot. They must have gotten too close. There's no way that goose is going to stop anytime soon. "Why don't we move to the tables over there?" Lily offered, picking up the haphazardly set-out picnic.
"I mean, I guess." Abby gave in. There was no stopping that goose.
The two found a nice little spot on the tables. They enjoyed their salads and Lily started to drink a glass of wine. Whereas Abby pulled out an energy drink from their inside coat pocket. Lily giggled a little at it. That was so Abby.
"What else do you have planned?" Lily asked, trying hard not to wink. Because she could think of what the answer was, and that was; nothing. Not that she needed more, but she liked to see what Abby would come up with on the fly. In fact, she had an idea already but didn't want to make it sound like her idea. No, she needed to hint until Abby got there.
"Well, um, do you want to-" She could tell Abby was thinking, a little too hard. "Well, what do you want to do?" They countered.
"I heard there's a small little theater." Lily offered. This wasn't her original plan, but seeing them struggle was hard to watch. "We could see a movie?" She added.
"Do they have anything good?" Abby questioned, seemingly excited at this new possibility. The wine was corked and tucked into Abby's inner pocket, and the rest of the picnic was packed away. The couple made their way back to Abby's cramped apartment to put away the food and begin their new adventure.
