THE FIRST COVENANT

EPISODE 1.

The venue was set. Everything was in place. Everyone was ready. First things first: church service for the first covenant. The first vow between Eleazar and prince Ramon.

The story takes us to that evening. The cathedral was decorated to detait. It was an evening wedding. The aisle runner had been adorned with rose petals for the bride and groom. Additionally, bows, flowers and greenery had been placed at the end of each pew on the aisle. Lanterns and candles had also been ideally lit and placed at strategic points to make the evening glow. It was a royal wedding and it had to depict a sight of one. There was no room for mistake.

The altar was draped in white with white roses arrangements lying beautifully on each side. Altar candles were already shining from their flames. The presiding bishop was already in church. Being a royal wedding, it was only befitting that it be presided by a bishop. The priests were also working round the click to make sure that the mass service would be a success.

The choir was practising to perfect their songs. The director was working on the choir vocals. They had to be perfect, either by design or by default. The king had sent his staff to inform them that he didn't want to see or hear any mistake.

The king and queen entered the church premises in a convoy. Everyone stood rooted to the ground. It was a grave mistake to be found seated during such moments. The compound was cleared, the church entrance was cleared too. His majesty and the queen walked hand in hand as they were led through to the front pew of the church. It was only after they had taken their seats that the commoners were allowed back into the church.

Minutes later, the convoy that carried the groom was seen. Prince Ramon was elegantly dressed in a white tuxedo with a tailcoat, a white pique vest and white bow tie. This look complemented his tall and built stature. He completed the look with a pair of colour-changing glasses. He was also clad in white leather shoes

His hair was well shaven and died black. Every jaw dropped at his sight. Ladies looked at him with awe. Boys admired him. Prince Ramon, with his escorts, walked confidently to the altar where he waited for his wife to be. They had courted for two years.

Eleazar landed in the church compound in a chopper. She had been flown in from the next state. She was beautiful in her white mermaid-shaped wedding gown and a cathedral veil. Her makeup had been done in details. Her maids were also looking great in their mermaid-shaped purple dresses. Eleazar's parents were not badly looking. Though they were commoners, the Royal family made sure that they had been dressed appropriately.

Eleazer was walked down the isle having been sandwiched by her parents. She was happy. She was marrying the love of her life. The two had met in the Continental Broadcasting Corporation where Eleazer was working as a journalist. Eleazer had been put in charge of covering prince Roman's charity event and the rest as they say, is history.

"Prince Ramon, do you take Eleazer white to be your lawful wedded wife? To love and to hold, for better or for worse, in riches and in poverty, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?" the bishop asked.

"I do," Prince Ramon answered.

"Eleazer White, do you take Prince Ramon Hammond to be your lawfully wedded husband? To love and to hold, for better or for worse, in riches and in poverty, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?" the bishop asked Eleazer.

"I do," Eleazer answered.

"I can now announce that that is your first covenant to each other. With that, your marriage is sealed. Let's do the second covenant, the exchange of the wedding rings. Let me have the rings," the bishop said.

Prince Ramon looked at his groom's man. The groom's man looked at the rest of the escorts. It was evident that there were no rings. There were whispers. Gossips had a field day. The king was mad, the queen was not amused.

"Are you looking for these?" a lady walking on the isle towards the altar announced. The woman was dressed in a black ball gown, black gloves and black half veil. She looked evil.

She was lifting two wedding rings. It was making sense, those were the wedding rings that were to seal the marriage.

"Daisy, not today please," Prince Ramon begged.

"Ramon, who is she?" Eleazer asked.

"Respect young lady, you can't call the prince by name. It's forbidden," the queen shouted.

"Eleazer, were you asking who I am? I will tell you. I am the woman who warms the prince's bed. I am the one he ought to have married but I can't bear children. I am barren because I was forced to abort his pregnancy by his own parents." the lady said authoritatively.

"The prince loves me, but his royalty won't allow him to marry a barren woman. The king needs a heir, the queen needs grandchildren, what a shame I can't give them any!" Daisy continued.

"Take her away," the king shouted an order.

"She is a disgrace to royalty," the queen said.

"One step and you are all dead," Daisy said holding a bomb remote control in her hand.
