Chapter 1 (The start of a new begining and feeling)
One cloudy day in Fredericksburg, Texas. Evelyn and her mother were packing and boxing up clothes along with other important items.
”How long is the trip going to take?” Evelyn questioned her mother.
“Not long onky3 hours love” her mother replied.
Evelyn’s mind went to multiple thoughts: Why do we have to move…? What if everything is different and unfamiliar...how long will we be there?
Her mind was going all over the place stressing about the move.
“Are you still stressed about the move Eve?’’ her mother asked with concern.
“...Yes I guess…” Evelyn replied confusingly
Evelyn’s mother planned for them to move to NYC from Texas since Evelyn has become of age to be in a bigger environment with more people and different things. Her mother also got a better job opportunity in New York ten years ago and is just now receiving it again, which is also enforcing the move drastically.
“You will be fine love, it will give you a chance to be more extroverted” her mom stated with a consoling voice.
“Mom…I’m already outgoing and social here though,” Evelyn argued.
“We leave for the airport in two hours, I want you to be ready by then” her mom replied sternly.
Evelyn ran up to her room and flopped on her bed trying to grasp everything that was happening. She lived in the quiet part of Texas all her life and now she’s having to leave it all behind. Although she had very few friends since the population was small and full of adults and isolated kids. She still managed to find a best friend named Bria whom she had known for almost a decade. She’d have to leave her since she didn’t have a phone or any distant contact.
Tap…Tap… Evelyn heard from her door.
“Yes ma’am’’ Evelyn replied to the sound.
“It’s me…Bria” She replied with an excited tone.
“Oh come in!’’Evelyn shouted. Bria rushed in the room and flopped on the bed next to Evelyn giving her a breathtaking squeeze.
“How are you doing?’’ Bria asked calmly.
“I’m doing ok..I just hate that we are moving if it isn’t obvious” Evelyn replied to Bria sarcastically.
“I know it sucks because I’ve known you for so long’’ Bria said with an upsetting tone.
Evelyn slightly sat up in her bed to look around at all the boxes that had replaced the furniture that used to take place in her room. Welp this is it… she thought to herself before she knew it tears came running down her face uncontrollably and she found herself sobbing in Bria’s arms.
''Your hands Eve,They’re shaking..”Bria said in a startled voice.
Evelyn took a moment to look at her hands and realized her hands and feet were moving as if they were in a choreographed dance. As she was examining her uncontrollable movements she caught a glimpse of her startled mother standing at her doorway.
“Mom…what’s happening? Why can’t I stop moving my hands!” Evelyn screamed in horror.Evelyn looked at her mother with a confused glare. Evelyn’s mother walked towards her and sat on her bed letting out a long stressful sigh. Evelyn could easily tell that whatever her mother was going to tell her wasn’t going to be pretty.
