A Child Starting Out

This story starts in a very interesting place, in an academy-like place called Hope's Peak. This school was where all of the children of the neighboring kingdoms royal families and trained in the talent they specialized in. Each of these royal youngsters had some kind of special talent that set them apart from the rest. However, one ten year old who was a particularly dangerous character lied his way into the school as the ultimate supreme leader, hoping he would be able to gain a kingdom of his own. However, he was found out and expelled, and the boy planned a plot to get revenge on all the kingdoms and especially, on the boy who had revealed his bad intentions to the world, a purple haired young astronaut. However, this story isn't about him, it is about a little boy named Gonta Gokuhara. Gonta was only 4 when this story starts. He lived in the school as the children were trained, with his older brothers Shuichi and Kaito, and their friend Kaede. However, most of the kids at the school were scared of Gonta, as the 4 year old had a very large build and looked quite intimidating. Gonta stayed by his brothers and friend, and he became fascinated by bugs, who loved him in the way people didn't. As Gonta became more intelligent about bugs, once he went out to the woods to look for bugs and he ended up lost. When he thought he heard some bugs, the little boy followed after them and then fell asleep against a stump. When Gonta woke up, the tired, cold and Hungry little boy found himself in a strange house. At first he was scared and wanted to go home, but the older boy living there said Gonta was safe and he would return him to has soon as possible. Gonta never noticed the liar had locked all the doors and never planned on returning him to his family. As the weeks passed, Gonta wondered when he would be able to see him again, but Kokichi told the child he couldn't return him to his family, and Gonta being a naive little child believed the older boy did have his best intrests at heart, slowly loosing hope of ever seeing his brothers again.

8 Years later, 12 year old Gonta lived in a small locked cottage deep in the woods. His memories of his life before the woods were sparing and hazy. He thought he remembered a boy with purple hair, a boy wearing a black cap, and a girl with pink eyes, but it might have just been his imagination. Gonta loved animals, especially bugs, and the insects who kept him company were his best friends. Gonta's older brother was actually shorter than him, despite Gonta being only twelve and his guardian being an adult. Gonta didn't know much about the kingdoms, but Kokichi said they were evil, which was why he was protecting Gonta from them. Gonta was excited though, as today he was going to ask Kokichi if he could go outside. Gonta hadn't left the cottage since Kokichi had took him in, but the boy was sure he could handle anything that might come in the outside world. Gonta was sure the people outside couldn't be as bad as Kokichi said. So the boy waited in the living room for Kokichi to return home. "May Gonta go out and see the the world?" Gonta asked and Kokichi scowled at the young Entemologist. "Gonta," Kokichi scolded, "You know how dangerous the kingdoms are. You're too young, to sweet, you would be in grave danger if I let you leave." Gonta nodded. "Gonta understands, but Gonta worried, if outside world so awful, why does Kokichi go out there every day?" That was something Gonta wondered constantly, if the kingdoms were such a terrible place, then why did Kokichi constantly go there?" "Well Kokichi explained, there are many innocent people who live in the kingdoms, and I go there to protect them, especially from the star destroyer." Gonta nodded at that. Kokichi had told Gonta many stories about the star destroyer, how he ravaged the kingdoms, and how Kokichi had to heroically protect them. "But you are much to young and naive, going out there would be dangerous for you." Gonta decided to leave it at that, but he wondered what in the outside world could possibly be so terrible that Kokichi would keep him from it. Two days later, when Kokichi left, Gonta decided to explore the one place he had never been able to see, Kokichi's room. When he found a clipboard, he decided to examine it and found what said: possible allies in the southwest kingdom. A familiar boy with a black cap covering his eyes was crossed out, as was a blond girl with pink eyes, again very familiar looking to Gonta. A black haired girl with red eyes had a question mark and the words, possibly? Too close to Kaito. For some reason Gonta reconized that name, and the name carried a calm feeling with it, like he would help Gonta. But that was impossible, right? Kokichi said he was evil, so he must be, right? And another blond girl with a maids uniform and a green haired guy with a disturbing smile were both circled with the words, Perfect Acomplice. Gonta didn't know much about what an acomplice meant, but it sounded bad. So the question arose, if an acomplice was bad, why would Kokichi want one? Those were questions the young boy didn't know the answers two, but then he tripped on something and slipped into a closet. In this closet, he found a portrait that he reconized, similar to the one with the black capped boy, or the one with the pink eyed girl. Somehow he felt like there was something calming about him, but his name said he was Kaito, so Gonta wasn't sure. However, it disturbed him that his portrait was was full of knife holes and knives. Kokichi must really hate Kaito, and what he read below it disturbed him even more. It said, Kaito was unbearably noble, and had disrupted his plans. That confused Gonta, as he knew being noble was a good thing. It meant that you were honest and brave, so why was Kokichi sounding like it was a bad thing here. From this, Kaito didn't sound bad, but Kokichi couldn't be lying to him. Gonta knew that for sure. At least he thought he knew, but he just couldn't be sure anymore. He did trust Kokichi, but at that point he was starting to wonder if he was being used. He wanted to believe that he was wrong, and that Kokichi was the caring guy he had thought he was, so he decided to look for more evidence to prove it, but he couldn't find anything else in the small room. Since Kokichi would be returning soon, Gonta left the room and started thinking to himself. Gonta was unsure of what he had found, but he didn't believe himself to be very smart, so he didn't know if he could trust himself. When Kokichi returned, Gonta acted the same and didn't tell him about what he had found, though he whole time he was contemplating things. The next day, Gonta secretly packed some food and water and when Kokichi left on his daily routine, Gonta snuck out as well, hiding in his wagon and then sneaking out. It was finally time for Gonta to find out the truth, though the idea of going out by himself did scare the 12 year old.
