Chapter 1
I explained what to expect in this story in the description, but let me explain a bit more. In this story, Wang Yibo and his daughter use the English language, and Xiao Zhan is not illiterate, just doesn't know how to speak English at all but can understand it perfectly. But sometimes, he finds it difficult to understand some big grammar, which he finds intimidating by two.
It's been a long time since I drafted something. I just want to use this new story as a refreshment. Do tell me what you think, so I'll be able to complete my ongoing ones.
Enjoy.....
-------------------------------------------
It was one of those beautiful sunny days, another free day Wang Chung, Wang Yibo's daughter got to spend with his daddy without any interlude from anywhere, not even her father's endless busy work schedule was able to interrupt this very day whenever Wang Chung would have it to spend with her daddy. Those days happen to be today, the day her father gets to cook for her, do her nails as she always insisted he did it for her, and make her hair any style she desires, even though it always ends up being a catastrophe, but then, Wang Chung cares less about how she looks.
All she wanted, and always craved for is to be with her father on this very day she gets to spend with him. To formulate a fascinating and unforgettable remembrance to hold onto until another day or let's say, another opportunity like this to broach itself. It's not that this day was sometimes coerced from her, but sometimes, her father would be too busy with work or preoccupied with one thing or another, which was never deliberately, to spend their special free day with her.
Sometimes, it was worse, because, in those days, her father might be on a business trip, attending a meeting with the government, since his work was all about building schools, hotels, hospitals, churches road constructions in villages that were assigned to his company to work on and so on that Wang Chung has lost counts of. It wasn't that she was not happy with her father's accomplishments or how rich and prominent his father was, or how influential her father is to society, but just sad those days she gets to spend with her father were cut short or were not even spent at all with her.
It hurt her so much that her father was being stolen from her when she needed him the most. She loves her Dad so much since she grew almost half of her 10 years with just her father since death decided to take her mother away from her, leaving her with just her sweet, busy, and loving father to take care of her. She missed her mother so much but had never made her father feel like she loved him less. The fact remains, that her father is her hero, her all and everything.
But sometimes, seeing her mates in school with their mothers made her crave the love of a mother, to have a mother who would make her hair properly, who would take care of her while her father is out there making ends meet for his family. Someone who she'll call a mother, and wouldn't care if the person will be a man or a woman, after all, her mother happens to be a man before he passed away.
Wang Chung had confidentially cried, prayed and had sometimes petitioned her father to get her a new mother. Someone to call a mother, someone to also make him happy. She feels her father is lonely and needs someone to take care of him as well. He needs someone to cook for them, someone to smile and cry with her father in times of need and supplement. Someone to support her father in times of sorrow and laughter. She knows her father might claim to be happy and strong, but she had always caught him being vulnerable and sad.
Countless times has she heard her father weeping behind closed doors to f his room, crying for the death of her mother, wailing and lamenting how many obligations he left behind for him, especially, because of her. She knows how much her father loves and cares for her and would do anything, whatever it takes to make her happy and satisfied. Wang Yibo believes he wasn't enough for his daughter, and that his daughter is entitled to everything good that life has to offer.
That was why he spoiled his daughter rotten. He gives her more than she asks for. He provides whatever he deems necessary and unnecessary for her daughter. At Wang Chung's age being 10, she had 3 cars which were given to her as her birthday present, even though she couldn't drive them herself, but her driver, yet, Wang Yibo feels it wasn't enough, that she needed more, more of everything.
Just to make his daughter happy and content, he raised her in a way that she doesn't respect her elders and doesn't even know what respect means. She talks even when her father is speaking, and controls her father however she wishes since she knows Wang Yibo would comply and wouldn't see anything wrong with what she did. Scolds and threatens anyone who dares disobeys his daughter's wish. Would stand with his daughter even when he knew she was wrong. He Pampers his daughter rotten and still finds nothing wrong with how his daughter behaves.
All that matters is that his daughter is happy with whatever she does or that her demands are met no matter what it takes. He gives his daughter everything but there was one thing he had abruptly denied his daughter, the same thing she hadn't stopped asking from him, the only thing her daughter had ever pleaded with him since it was obvious she didn't have to use please before what she demanded would be given unto her.
And that one thing is a mother. Someone she'd called her mother, the only thing she had pleaded for but hadn't gotten yet, and it hurt Wang Chung so much that she doesn't think she'd stand it anymore. She doesn't want her father to shove the discussion aside anymore. It's time they talked about it. It's time this very demand should be met and on which day to discuss this very discussion if not on this very special day she has to spend with her father? She can't swallow it again. She needed a mother and today is the day to get it.
Wang Yibo, was as usual preparing food since on this day, all the maids and servants were given a day off, no one to disturb or ruin this father and daughter day for them and how it would've been more memorable and more special if Wang Chung had a mother to complete their beautiful family - Wang Chung reverie while looking at his father who was singing a song with the Chinese language. Oh how much she enjoys watching her father being cute and adorable singing like this with his sweetly deep voice while cooking.
"You're such a wonderful singer Dad." She complimented, smiling at her father who beamed at her compliment. "I wish I can sing like you like this, and that I can sing so well with our language like this." She pouted cutely, killing her father with her cuteness.
"Aww, my princess." Wang Yibo regarded her and dropped whatever he was doing and concentrated on his daughter. "But there was nothing difficult about our language. I'm sorry, baby, it was all your mother and I fault you can't speak our language." He pulled her into his embrace and kissed her forehead. "Don't worry, princess, you don't have to feel this way, I can't even speak fluently either. We'll learn together, now that we're back in our Homeland, okay?"
"Yes, daddy." Wang Chung beamed. "But I'm satisfied with speaking English fluently, thank you very much." She sassed causing her father to roll his eyes playfully. "Besides, the school I'm going to here doesn't use our language much. I'm so proud of how I'm being respected by the teachers and students because of my accurate speech in English. So, I'm good." Yeah, let's not forget that they are based in England and only came back to their motherland a few years ago.
Wang Yibo smiled brightly, caring less how many complaints he had gotten from the teachers about how much his daughter intimidates the teachers and students with her English speaking. Instead of scolding her, he encourages her. "I'm so proud of you, princess. Don't worry, once my project here is completed, we'll go back to England. Here's not for a princess like you." He said, going back to what he was doing. "Let me continue my special garnishing this dish for us, my Angel doesn't need to starve."
"Alright, Dad." She beamed sweetly and continued pressing her phone. Once her father concentrated once again, she turned back, looking at him again with so much admiration. No one can ever compare or compete with her Dad. He's such a charming handsome man. Full of determination. He's everything she'd ever ask for. She deserves to be crowned the world's best daddy, according to her. He gave in to her and had never denied her anything.
"Dad..." She suddenly called out, taking her father by surprise with the tone of her voice.
"Yes, my love..." Wang Yibo answered, looking up from what he was doing, beaming at his daughter who was only observing his handsome face to go ahead and demand whatever she wants without hesitation and it shall be given to her.
"When are you going to take another wife?" And whatever Wang Yibo was holding was unintentionally dropped, not expecting the question he had severally wanted to avoid to be asked again by her daughter he doesn't know how to say no to. "Dad, I asked a question, and I expected an answer and not you mopping at me like that."
"That was because I was trying to understand if I misheard your question." Wang Yibo nervously smiles. "Sorry, what did you say?"
"Oh, come on, you heard me right!" Chung scolded. "Stop acting dumb with me and don't even think about changing this same topic again!" She scoffed. "When are you going to get married again?"
Okay, that was an unexpected question, especially not the one to ask today that was supposed to be their special day. He doesn't want to deal with this. This same question brought up the pain he had tried so many times to bury deeper in his heart. This question reminded him of his beautiful wife he lost in the cruel hands of death. The same question he could stand any more, but looking at the determination on his daughter's face, he could see he'd no longer run away from the question.
"My princess, why do you want me to get married again? Do you not want me to completely mourn my wife, your mother? Do you know how sensitive this question is to me?" Wang Yibo asked, a little bit annoyed with his daughter's pressure of getting a new wife.
"I know, Dad." Chung sniffled, trying to hold back her tears. "I understand, but it's been over five years since Mom died, and you've been taking care of me alone. I want you to get married again so that your wife can take care of us."
"Am I not doing a good job taking care of you?" Since he couldn't say no to her, he decided to corner the question to be on her, trying to make her feel guilty and stop her from requesting the same thing he'll never grant to her. He hates saying no to her, but this time, she seems to ask for too much from him.
"Dad, please stop doing that! Stop trying to corner me to escape from this discussion. Of course, you're taking care of me! You're doing a great job and I'm not complaining." She pointed out, her tears already streaming down her cheeks. "Dad, you need someone to take care of you and your needs. Don't you feel lonely sometimes? Or do you think I don't notice the sadness behind your smiles? Please, Dad, you need someone by your side, some I'll call a mom."
Wang Yibo smiled sadly, covering his pain with his forced smile. "Sweetheart, I honestly do not know where this is coming from, and I truly appreciate your concern for me, but I'm going to say this again, I am not ready to get married again, not now, and maybe not ever, okay." He deadpanned and looked away on seeing how his daughter was gnashing his teeth, hating his refusal of her on this same topic yet again.
Wang Chung dislikes how easily he dismissed this discussion and she couldn't take it anymore. "Why, Dad! Why? Why are you doing this to me, to yourself, to us?! This is so unfair! Just this one thing I asked of you, Dad. Why can't you do this very thing for me?" With tears she asked, heartbroken.
"Sweetheart, honestly, I really didn't want to talk about this." Wang Yibo calmly retorts. His heart tightened painfully seeing his daughter's tears. "Please, stop ruining your beautiful face with these ugly tears. It doesn't suit your face, baby. Please, stop crying, you know I hate seeing you like this." He comforted his daughter. "Let's not ruin today for us. Let's enjoy cooking and enjoying ourselves today. Ask for another thing, another car, a new mansion, jewellery, clothes, iPhone, anything, baby, but please, not this one."
Wang Yibo wiped her tears away overlooking the raised voice her father used on her. She shrugged and breathed up the pent-up anger and nodded. "Alright, sorry, Dad. I won't try to ruin today for us any further."
"Thanks, darling. Now get things ready. We're going to bake today. What do you think?" Wang Yibo excitedly asked, trying to clear the thick and clouded mood and air with something he knew his daughter enjoys doing so much. He might have avoided the conversation as usual but he knew deep down, that his daughter is right, but he just hadn't seen the one his heart beats for like his deceased wife or that this particular boy he met in one of the villages he had worked on has somehow stolen his heart.
