A New Friend

Terror

HELP ME!

It's something I've learned to run away from.

You spoiled brat! You're just as worthless as your mother.

But this time.

You can't fight fire with fire, Flower.

I'm running right at it.

~5 years later~

I jolt myself awake as my alarm goes off. My hype playlist starts playing, and I roll to my bedside to shut it off. I stare at my ceiling to gather my thoughts. Another bad dream, I stumble out of bed to make my way down to the kitchen.

Downstairs, my dad is making me breakfast. "Hi dad," I yawn, looking at the No. 9 hero Eraserhead, who I get to call my dad. He isn't my real dad, but I know better than to talk about it. "Hey, kid can you sit down? I want to talk," Aizawa asks. I give him a concerned look but he doesn't let down his mask. I shrug, and he leads me to the table where he made breakfast, then we sit down and start talking.

"As you must know, I am a teacher at U.A., the best hero school in the country," he starts off. "And since you're fifteen and eligible, the school has asked me if I would allow you to become one of my students." I stayed quiet for a minute before asking "Do they know?" He stays silent for a moment until finally, he nods. "Only the staff that will be working with you knows, but I want to know if you want to go to U.A. Whatever you decide I will agree to, but this would be the path to go down if you want to become a hero and-" I stood up quickly "I'll go," I stated.

Aizawa didn't need to hear another word. "Perfect, I'll prepare you for the exams the best I can, and you'll have to do the rest from there." I stopped for a moment, startled. "E-Exams? Like sit down for two or three hours and write on a paper?" Dad laughed and shook his head. "No Y/n, it'll be one of the toughest exams you go through, so you better be prepared." I nodded and headed up to my room to change.

If I was to become a hero, I would need to start training like it. I change into workout clothes and yell at Dad, telling him I'm going for a run. Dad says I have five weeks before the exams begin, I tell myself. Second place is the first loser, I won't hold back. I slowed down on my run, noticing a gym I could go to and train at. I think about it for a second, then go in.

I walk up to the front desk and ring the bell. A short black-haired girl comes up behind the desk. I explain to her that I want to join the gym, and she gave me the paperwork. I sat on the only couch in the building and started filling it out. I finished filling out the first page when the doorbell rang and a tall blonde guy walked up to the desk and asked for the same thing I did. The woman gave him the paperwork and he started to look around for a place to fill it out. His crimson-red eyes met mine, as I was sitting on the only couch in the room. He groaned, then came to sit over next to me.

It was silent while we filled out the gym forms. I didn't realize how much paper there was. I glanced over to the guy next to me to see how he was doing, and he was almost done! I noticed his calloused hands and veiny arms, wondering if he works out a lot. "Are you switching gyms?" I ask, hoping to strike up a conversation. He looks over at me, glares, and goes back to writing his information. I didn't back down and asked another question. "You look around my age, what high school are you from?" He stops writing, acknowledges my paper, and says "Hurry up and finish your forms." I rolled my eyes but finished up.

The guy and I got up at the same time and handed our papers in. The woman behind the desk flipped through the papers, then told us we could both start tomorrow. The boy nodded and began to walk out of the gym quickly, but not before I caught up with him.

"Why did you sign up for this gym?" I tried again. He slowed his walking pace and sighed. "It's not really your business you know that right?" I shrugged and answered, "I'm just a curious person." He scoffed at my remark, and we continued walking. After a small silence, he explained. "I'm doing the U.A. school exams, and I decided to join a gym instead of practicing in my backyard." I giggled at this, and he became hot-headed quickly. "What the hell are you doing that for? I have everything I need in my backyard." He argues.

"Woah, chill out, I'm just laughing because it's such a coincidence we're joining for the same reasons." He gave me a look of curiosity, so I continued. "My dad works at the school, and he said he'll let me join, but only if I pass the exams. I'm hoping to join the hero course, and if I don't then well I just won't join the school." The boy scoffs, "competitive much?" he remarks. I whip my head around to glare at him, only to realize he was already looking at me.

We both stop walking at the same time, our faces mere centimeters from touching noses. I look away first, I didn't want him to see my flushed cheeks of embarrassment! He looked away as well but didn't seem as bothered as I was. I remember I don't know his name, so I ask. "I never got your name, what was it?" He looks over at me and gives me a weird look, then turns forwards again and responds "Katsuki, Katsuki Bakugou. What's yours?"

I smile and tell him. "Y/n Aizawa, I hope we both get in so we can become friends," I smile at him. He doesn't return the smile, it was hard to tell in the nighttime, but I could see pink on his cheeks.

We arrive at my house, and I wave him goodbye as he starts jogging home. I walk inside and see my dad feeding our cat, Toby. "Hey, how was that run?" He asks. I smile, recalling Katsuki's annoyed face at the gym. "It was great, and I think I made a new friend."
