Chapter 1
ONE
“Sometimes we must walk out of our comfort zone to meet, laugh, fall in love,and do other wonderful things...”
Those are the words my grandmother told me before dying from a long lasting sickness. After her death I returned to Shanghai and I was convinced that this will be a good news for my parents.
“Welcome home my baby, you don't know how much I missed you sweet heart".
My mother welcomed me in a very nice manner. On my father's side "you came back huh? What a disgrace" was the only thing he said before returning to his occupations. Looks like i have forgotten who my father really was.
My father is not a man who easily shows his emotions especially towards me , his only son whom he loves so much. I remember my father used to punish me as a kid because I used to play with other kids at school. Sometimes he would rebuke me just because I invited a classmate at home and since I had no friends neither in school nor in the quarter.
I really didn't know why as a kid but now I understand that it's all because those kids parents were not as wealthy as us at the time. He can be a shameless asshole sometimes. Anyway, woolgathering about the past won't help in changing our situation. I hope things are going to be better with my return. That's all I hope
Bathrobe on, I was heading to the bathroom to take a long bath when I heard noises alike to those of cars packing. I went to my window and saw a number of six cars. “I wonder who that must be"
I took a quick shower, dressed and ran down the stairs just to find a group of people shouting and singing welcome songs. It looked like a party.
“Sweet heart, I hope you are not too tired cuz I invited some relatives because all like me they missed you alot"
As I guessed it was my mother's full idea to organize such a grandiose ceremony with the help of my aunties and her friends just to welcome me.
“welcome little Chao shan, I miss my favorite nephew" said aunt Lei Baofang while pouring Kisses all over my face

Shouted one fat man with grey hair, dressed in a brown coat. I could guess he was my uncle from my mother's side. He shook my hand so violently that I fell like an earthquake occured in my whole body. Everybody, from the biggest to the smallest welcomed me in his way though some were very strange and violent.
I saw my father walking towards me with to glass of liquor, proposed me one that I started sipping. “Hum."was the first and only thing my father said. I was quite surprised and relieved because nothing negative came from his mouth this...

Guess I should never talk fast.
It was not an easy day for me, while the maids where cleaning the mess from the party, I walked upstairs pass my parents room where I heard voices, kind of voice in argumentation mode.
“ You were not supposed to organize such a huge party for a lazy bum like Chao"

Hearing the full names of my father coming out of my mom's mouth, I rushed to my room because knew my mom was super angry due to the fact that she usually never calls my father by his full name and when it happens, it's a disaster
