Chapter 1 - The wake-up call
“This is your first day at the Academy. How long are you going to sleep? Wake up, Sylvia!” someone yelled in my ears.
Suddenly I fell off the bed and opened up my eyes to see the whole world turned upside down.
The ceiling fan above my head is spinning quite slowly.
“Finally you woke up,” said the voice again.
I turned my face to the other side to see a woman standing at the door. She had the exact look as my mother, except for the curly red hair, tied into a ponytail and those forest green eyes.
She also wore an apron-like, like my mom.
Wait, didn’t mom go out to her aunt’s house for one week? What’s she doing here then?
“Now, brush up and get dressed. You have ten minutes till you get ready. Don’t blame me if you are late for the academy, this is your first day.”
The What?
“I have breakfast ready, your favorite ham and cheese with bread. Come down.” She closed the door behind her and left without saying another word.
What did she just say?
Wait, why does this line sound familiar.
Let me see. I closed my eyes trying to recall what I heard. At that exact moment, something flashed into my mind.
‘Shifters Academy !’. This is the novel that I had been writing before going to bed.
It’s the first chapter. Wait, Calm down. All of this sounds too unrealistic to happen. This can’t happen.
I should get up and think over it properly. None of this is possible, is it?
I got up on my feet and thought over it. But ten minutes passed by mom again called from behind, “If you aren’t coming, Then I am not going to call you any longer.”
I am coming. I can see if everything goes just as I have written down. Then I can judge whether this is the world of my books or not.
I had to brush in two minutes and took a quick shower as I felt hot. I got dressed in the Navy blue skirt, and white blouse half- sleeved along with the half-jacket on top which was also blue.
I let down my honey-blond hair loose at the sides which hung over my shoulders. I found a clip at the table, a blue butterfly. I used it to tie up the hair which fell over my face.
I liked the red ribbon which we have to wear around our collars. I was the one who had matched everything to go with the outfit. It hurts to see it go so perfectly with my plot.
And I look exactly like Sylvia in my novel. Hey, all my bangs have disappeared and I…..look kind of cute also. My chest….is kind of heavy also. Wait, do I have to wear a bra now?
My flat chest has disappeared. I can finally get a guy to notice me. I have the same height, except for the sudden transformation.
But still, I want my old face back.
Let’s see if everything is the same as my story, then….if I got down the stairs….I’ll fall eventually.
It won’t happen, cause I’ll be extra careful while coming down.
I stood in front of the stairs, and got down slowly, extra careful.
I managed to go down the rest of them except the five ones. That will be a piece of cake as well.
“Why aren’t you hurrying up? You’ll be late!” Mom yelled at me standing at the end of the stairs.
I lost my attention and eventually slipped rolling down the end of the stairs.
I fell onward with a thud sound.
“Ouch!”.
“What are you doing?”.
“Can’t you watch where you are going?”.
“Help me get up at least. Why are you yelling?”.
“Stupid girl!” she grabbed me by the hand, helping me get up.
My back hurts.
“Come to the breakfast table. Where’s your bag?”.
“In my room”.
“Then go get it. Wait, I’ll go get it for you.”
“You go and eat.”
I nod and went towards the table.
I watch the same breakfast as I had imagined it to be sitting at the table. I sigh and sit down.
“Let’s eat up.”
After I finished mom came and handed me the bag.
“Go and have a good day,” she wished before pushing me out of the front door.
Warm sunlight attacks my eyes and makes my knees feel weaker, I have to be strong to go out in the daylight.
Well, after having caffeine five times a day, and staying all crammed up to meet the deadline, the sun is my formidable enemy.
Wait, I don’t know the route to the Academy. Crisis-
This is my novel. I created the route myself. Let’s get going. All the houses I pass by look the same.
I had been staying up late while writing and then this happens to me? Wait, this is not a dream after all, is it?
Let’s pinch to find out.
Ouch, the pain is real.
This isn’t a dream. How?
I still kept walking and half an hour later, I stood in front of the big gates of the academy.
“Hurry up and enter. We are closing the gates,” said the gatekeeper.
I nod and walk inside. I found the instructions on the notice board.
Names were written along with classes. I found my one at the top. Sylvia Bard, class Special A-1.
Let’s go to the second floor then.
I walked up the stairs, and when I was midway, someone came running toward me and bumped into me eventually.
I fell to the floor with a loud noise. My back!.
“Who ran into me anyway?” I asked, feeling irritated.
“Can’t you see where you are going?”.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that,” said the person who bumped into me.
I saw a guy around my age with brown silky hair permed backwards with some of the locks falling over his rectangle face.
His eyes matched his hair color as well, brown. But his face looked kind of cute, because of those dimples.
“Uh…I….”.
“Can you get up?” he asked, standing up on his feet.
“Well, I…”.
He extended out his hand towards me, with a smile.
“If you need help then take my hand as an apology.”
Should I take his hand? But he was the one who bumped into me. It won’t hurt. My eyes noticed his uniform, blue pants with blue jacket, and red tie.
He’s from this place as well.
“Thank you,” I placed my hand on his. His hand kind of soft for a man.
I got up and stood face to face with him.
“I should have watched before bumping into someone. I am sorry,” he apologizes again. “What’s your name by the way-“.
His eyes follow my legs, his expressions changed turning serious.
“Your knee is hurt. We have to treat it right away, it’s bleeding.”
“My knee?”.
I looked down to find it bleeding as he said it was.
When did this happened? Because I bumped into him?
“Let’s go to the nursery, I know where it is,” he grabbed my hand tightly.
“But I have class-“.
“Which class are you in?”.
“Well, Special A-1”.
“Coincidence. From same class as well. Our homeroom teacher is Ms. Wang. She’ll be late as she’s pregnant. You can get this treated.”
“Then….alright.”
“Hurry up then.” He took me to the other floor, and then we reached the infirmary. All these while, he held onto my hand and didn’t let it go.
He knocked on the door for two times.
“Are you in there, Ms. Lala?”.
“Yes, coming.”
A woman opened the door. She was dressed in white with a labcoat hung on her shoulders. But her breasts were about to burst through the tight blouse which she was wearing.
“You need anything?” she asked, taking a puff of the cigarette which she held in her hand.
“She’s injured. Please help her out.”
“Injured? Come in then.”
We walked inside and she gave me a chair, and checked out my wounds, then brought antiseptics and puts a band-aid over it.
“Done. It will heal in due time.” She said, in appreciation.
“She’ll be alright right Teacher?” asked the boy with a worried face.
“Yes, now get back to class, it will start in two minutes.”
I got off from the chair and bowed.
“Thanks for your help.”
“Not a problem. If you feel unwell, come here.”
“Sure.”
“Let’s go to class,” said the boy, standing beside me.
I nod.
We both leave the place together.
“You can walk right?” he asked, as we were walking quite slowly.
“I can. Thanks for taking to the infirmary. I hardly know anything in here-“.
This is my novel. But I only created the characters. And most probably this is the good boy Ken. Why did I wrote about this? I didn’t had to bleed if I hadn’t written it all down.
Dug my own grave, Goddammit!
