An Uninvited Guest

A shadowy figure approached the tall black rimmed French windows. Currently in this stupendous mansion, there was a party, a grand one at that. However this wasn’t any old party. And the figure knew that. This party was celebrating something. The figure didn’t know what, but what they did know, was that this was a demon’s party. And he had to slay the one right in the spotlight. One of the most powerful demons out there Vox Akuma.

The figure; named Shoto’s heart was pounding. He’s slain countless demons before. However he had never gone head-to-head with a demon as powerful as this before. Shoto doubts himself, he’s scared. He doesn’t even know what this demon looks like, he’ll know when he sees it. Shoto has a sworn duty, and he plans to carry it out to the end. He might as well kill them all while he’s at it.

The worst part of this party was that there wasn’t only demons, but yokai as well. To slay Yokai you needed a shaman to back you up. Sure Shoto had magic of his own, plus the aid of his knife, but it wasn’t nearly powerful enough to exorcise a Yokai. It’s a miracle he has magic as a human anyway.

Hopping to another window to get a better view, Shoto watched the actions of the monsters below to try and see who was at the centre of the party. A few Yokai had picked up on his presence, but chose to ignore it as, “what could a mere human do?

Shoto made sure to check nobody was watching as he scaled up the water-stained maroon bricked walls of the mansion. Peering into an empty bedroom and smashing the glass, Shoto dived into the building and behind the bed. He was on the 3rd floor, so he doubted that anyone would hear him, especially over the din of the party.

Unfortunately for Shoto, he was heard by a lone fox Yokai who probably got lost looking for the toilet. He opened the door, bright aquamarine eyes searching for the cause of the noise, then he shrugged leaving the room as the intruder wasn’t his concern. And he had a party to get back to.

Shoto silently waited for the Yokai’s steps to disappear before following after. The corridors seemed to stretch forever, but despite this Shoto still managed to navigate himself to the second floor, there he could see and hear the party on the floor below. As he stood in the doorway, he noticed a few demons and Yokai lining the banister, drinks in hand.

A demon turned to look at him and cocked her head, not recognising the young man in front of her. Shoto reached for his blade. However luckily for him, all the demons and Yokai on the landing where piss drunk. The same demon threw herself into Shoto’s chest, fumbling drunkly over her words, startling the young man, causing him to nearly be knocked over. She was strong, well, all demons are strong. But for Shoto, this demon would be a walk in the park to kill.

Instead of slaying her, Shoto placed her down on one of the blood red, goth style sofas, since you can’t hit a lady (without a reason). Shoto then went to look over the banister, he didn’t expect to be hit by several powerful auras. He knew that this mission would be a challenge but no by this much. Shoto’s heart pounded loudly. Then his eyes locked with his target, and he knew it was him. Vox Akuma.

He stumbled back, he was caught by one of the wasted Yokai, it was the same one from the corridor. Shoto then looked over the banister again. His target stared right back at him. Cold, bright yellow eyes stared into his own. Should he run away? Should he get out of there while he could?

However his thoughts where interrupted by the blue-eyed and absolutely stoned Yokai who was marginally taller than him, maybe about an inch. Handing him a half-drunken glass of rosé champagne, it’s likely that glass was that Yokai’s unfinished drink. Shoto accepted it and took it down in one, and tossed the glass over his shoulder, it smashed on the tiled floor. The alcohol burned his throat, but it gave him the confidence to face the demon downstairs (ha-ha). Shoto glanced over the banister again, and surprisingly the demon was gone… wait… the demon was… gone?

Shoto glanced around and saw the demon walking up the stairs to the landing and Shoto knew he had fucked up. Unconsciously grabbing the totalled Yokai’s arm and sprinting away. The Yokai, in his drunken state had no clue what was going on but went along with it, matching Shoto’s pace.

Shoto then realised he had taken the sloshed Yokai with him, then he hid in a room. It was filled with heaven high Yokai and two unconscious demons who had sizeable lumps on their head.

Shoto decided to leave the Yokai he grabbed here. Glancing to the window, then running towards it. Shoto nearly tripped over a Cat Yokai who was smoking something. Most likely opium, Shoto wrinkled his nose at the repulsive scent, but the Yokai was higher than cloud nine so she was thoroughly ignored.

Shoto felt that overwhelming presence enter the room just as he vaulted out of the open window. He saw 3 demons ready to catch and detain him. Shoto gripped his blade and cleanly sliced off one of the demon’s heads, using the acceleration of falling. Thick red blood splattered onto Shoto’s clothes and face. The other two jumped back, only to have their stomachs slashed and their filthy entrails pour onto the floor. Adjusting the grip on his blade, and using his sleeve, he wiped off the blood. Before sheathing it.

Shoto turned around to look towards Vox. An indescribable look on the demon’s face, it was a cross of anger, surprise and some sort of twisted awe. But it definitely wasn’t a friendly one, not that Shoto expected a friendly look. In fact the demon looked slightly offended that his party was interrupted.

Knowing that from now he couldn’t do anything. Shoto used the shock of the demons and Yokai, and made his escape, dashing off into the half dead forest surrounding the mansion.
