Everyone knew of Hopes Peak Academy. The highschool that excepted gifted talented students from all over Japan and nurtured their talents. No one knew that more than me. My name is Kaito Momota and I'm the Ultimate Astronaut. Despite being the Ultimate Astronaut, I haven't actually went to space yet. That's why I have to graduate from Hopes Peak, so I can finally see the stars. However, as soon as I take one step on the porch, I suddenly feel a feeling of intense despair. I didn't like that feeling at all, but then I remembered nothing else.

When I woke up, I found myself in what I supposed was the gym. All I knew was I didn't like this at all. I had just wanted a fun exciting year, not whatever this was. After getting my bearings, I came across what looked like the main hall, where I saw the biggest group of students I had seen, all looking as confused as I was. I was now just even more bewildered by this whole thing, as I was sure over half of these students weren't my new classmates. As a matter of fact, I reconized at least 2 thirds of the students from the years above me. What was going on?! Before I could say anything however, I was interrupted by one of the guys from the year above. "What are you doing! You are already a minute late!" I reconized this guy as Taka, the ultimate moral compass. However, just as I noticed someone from the above class was missing. That's when a guy about a few inches shorter than me walked in to have Taka scold him for being late as well. That boy is Makoto Naegi, the ultimate Hope. Okay, he was the Ultimate Lucky student, but after his positive outlook the Headmaster named him the ultimate Hope. I wasn't sure why all these people from the above years were here, but I figured I should probably get to know my own classmates before I figured that out. "Hey I'm Kaito Momota Luminary of the stars! What's your name?" I had decided to start with a guy who didn't seem to want to talk to anyone, and was hiding under his hat. "My name is Shuichi Saihara," The kid said before looking down again. This was getting a bit akward. After prodding him a bit, I learned he was the ultimate detective, which was cool, but he just kind of shrunk into himself. I decided to keep an eye out for that guy, after all I knew what it was like to be unsure of myself. Standing at the very edge of the gym was a girl who obviously meant buisness. She had a no-nonsense, dangerous expression and was keeping everyone in the main hall away from her. I did my best to talk to Maki Harukawa, the ultimate child caregiver, but she obviously wanted me to give her some space. I liked Maki, she seemed to be a mystery, but there was something else about her, a hatred of herself. Seriously how many people in this school hated themselves?! I decided to take her under my wing later as well. I would probably have a challenge between the introverted Shuichi and people hating Maki, but I was sure I was up to the challenge. After all, there wasn't a single bad person in the world. After talking to some more people I was already tired, but I was sure it would all be fine in the end as long as Kokichi the ultimate liar didn't cause trouble. Okay, he said he was the ultimate supreme leader, but there was no way I could trust a simple thing that came out of his mouth. After I met everyone however, what I wanted to know was why the two upper classes were there and why they were acting like it was their first day too. What happened next was a chaotic shouting match, everyone trying to figure out why they were trapped here. However, I couldn't ponder on it long when a strange voice told everyone to meet in the gym. Something bugged me about that voice though, it seemed sinister. I decided to go check it out, what I would later mark as the worst decision of my life.

When we finally arrived at the gym I saw that a black and white "stuffed bear" was waiting for us. What? "What's going on?" I said out loud, becoming increasingly distrusting of the situation now. Tsumugi looked confused and Kyo frowned. Mondo was glaring at the two colored bear and Makoto's face mirrored what I was sure was on my own. I tensed up, ready to attack that bear if it tried to harm me or my new friends. Maybe that is reckless, but I didn't really care. That's when the bear started speaking. "I'm not a teddy bear, I'm Monokuma!" I didn't blame Chihiro though, since was pretty sure most people thought that thing was a teddy bear. "Welcome to you're new life at hope's peak academy!" I didn't like the way he said new life though, it made me uncomfortable. "It was decided that all of you will live together in the school for the rest of your lives. Wait WHAT?! "WHAT?!" I shouted and was about to charge at the stupid, evil teddy bear when I was pulled back by Maki of all people. "She glared at me. "Idiot, getting yourself in trouble now would do nothing." I did agree but... "Don't call me an idiot!" Maki scoffed, but I could see I wasn't the only one was was mad. Mondo, Nekomaru, and Akane especially looked furious, but Hiro still seemed convinced this was all fake, and people think I'm an idiot. "However," Monokuma kept talking though. "There is a way to leave the school." Most of the others looked relieved about it, but it seemed off to me. "What exactly is that way out?" I was surprised at where it came from, but Shuichi was looking critically at the bear, even though he was the shyest kid here beside Mikan and Chihiro. I myself also wanted the answer, but I was not ready when we got one. "If one student were to murder another." "OKAY WHAT?!" I shouted. I was completely done with this stupid bear, but before I could do anything I was once again pulled back by Maki. I then felt sick that a few of the guys, Rantaro, Kyo and Kokichi, actually seemed to be enjoying this. Before I could run at the bear again though, someone else did instead and Mondo seemed about to smash the annoying piece of junk. As happy as I was, Shuichi seemed worried about it and Maki seemed unsure too. That immidieately put me on edge but before I could warn him someone else did. "Throw it!" Like Shuichi, Kyoko was also the ultimate detective. But Kyoko didn't even remember this and Shuichi was constantly doubting himself, now even more with a second ultimate detective. When Mondo threw it, it promptly blew up, thankfully not taking Mondo with it. Monokuma left, taking all of my dreams and excpectations with him. A school of despair, what rediculus garbage was that? I turned to my 47 classmates and fellow prisoners, Monokuma's words resounding in my head. That being said though, I had total faith in all of my classmates. There was no way anyone would kill someone. Right?
