Chapter 1: The surprise

◦I woke up a morning a bit tired than usual and I was getting ready for work, I heard a clattering of plates, I ran to check on it and it was my mom! “Mom!? What are you doing! You should be in bed, resting” I ran to her trying guide her back to her bed “Oh humbug… I’m fine” I heard her mumble under her breath “Mom, I told you to never say that foul word” I gave her a look which she flinched and looked away.

◦A few hours later, my mom was sitting in the chair reading the mails… which we don’t get often. Just before I opened the door to leave for work, she squealed and jumped off her seat. I was surprised to see her so happy “Is that a love mail?” I asked her in a jokily way while smirking softly to her, she blushed softly and looked away “No… you got in” I got in? to what? “You’re going to high school!” she said smiling at me. I was at shocked; I mean I did want to go to high school for once but… I must get the money and take care of her, I smiled at her, but it faded to a frown “I-I can’t…” I opened the door a little “I have to work and take care of you” I paused “You need the money to buy a meeting with a good doctor that can cure you” I looked away and headed out the door “Wait!” she ran up to me limping, “Jonathan… I know you care about me, but I want what’s best for you and besides, I’m not scared of death, it’s a part of life” she takes something out of her pocket which was an envelope full of money “mom…” I was hesitating “Take it Jona, go to school I’ll be fine” she smiled. I had no choice, she is my mom, and we should respect our mothers even if they’re sick. And of course, I had to quit my job and prepare my stuff for school next week.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
